They are not available yet and the price has already gone up. Here are the new current prices for Canon's yet-to-be-available new L lenses:
Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L USM Fisheye Lens - $1,499.00
Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens - $7,299.00
Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens - $11,499.00
Canon EF 500mm f/4.0 L IS II USM Lens - $10,499.00
Canon EF 600mm f/4.0 L IS II USM Lens - 12,999.00
Those placing preorders should expect to get their lens(es) at the preordered price. I have never been charged an increased amount for a preordered camera or lens - though I have been given a discount if the price drops before the new product ships. Those who placed preorders for these new lenses have saved a very significant amount of money.
OK, so how can you save $1,000 on the new 500 II and 600 II?
J&R and have not raised their prices yet. If you want one of these lenses, I highly recommend that you preorder them fast - before these two retailers figure out that their prices are not reflecting the current market price.

Chuck Westfall (Canon USA) has provided information about the weather sealing found in some pre-officially-sealed lenses.
According to Mr Westfall, "Pre-1999 white EF lenses such as the 200/1.8L, 300/2.8L, 300/4L, 300/4L IS, 400/2.8L, 400/5.6L, 500/4.5L, 600/4L, 35-350/3.5-5.6L, 70-200/2.8L, and 100-400/4.5-5.6L all lack mount gaskets but have moderate dust and moisture resistance for their switches, focusing rings and zoom rings where applicable."
For example, "The EF400mm f/5.6L USM lens was designed before Canon started offering "dust and drip resistant" lenses, so it does not have a mount gasket or a built-in protective filter. However, it does have seals under the switches and the focusing ring, so it is weather-resistant to a point. For best results in wet conditions, I suggest using a clear filter on the front of the lens and covering the lens barrel with a plastic wrap."
"Canon will not retrofit mount gaskets to EF lenses that were not introduced with that feature." I of course had to ask that question.
(Thanks John!)

How do you make your laptop (or desktop for that matter) run significantly faster? Install a Solid State Drive (SSD).
I first started using SSDs nearly two years ago - and was extremely pleased with the performance boost they gave me - especially for loading applications. I am currently using a Crucial Technology 256GB RealSSD C300 2.5" SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive and simply love it.
A 256GB capacity is certainly not large enough for archiving image files, but it is plenty of space for my image work-in-process (which is under a very healthy backlog I might add). External hard drives provide for my multi-redundant archive storage requirements.
I paid $500 for my Crucial 256GB RealSSD C300 just 7 months ago. B&H currently has a limited number of Crucial 256GB RealSSD C300 SSDs available at a sale price of only $389.95.
