How do you make your laptop (or desktop for that matter) run significantly faster? Install a Solid State Drive (SSD).
I first started using SSDs nearly two years ago - and was extremely pleased with the performance boost they gave me - especially for loading applications. I am currently using a Crucial Technology 256GB RealSSD C300 2.5" SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive and simply love it.
A 256GB capacity is certainly not large enough for archiving image files, but it is plenty of space for my image work-in-process (which is under a very healthy backlog I might add). External hard drives provide for my multi-redundant archive storage requirements.
I paid $500 for my Crucial 256GB RealSSD C300 just 7 months ago. B&H currently has a limited number of Crucial 256GB RealSSD C300 SSDs available at a sale price of only $389.95.

From X-Rite:
Apple has announced that the new OS 10.7 Lion will no longer support software that relies on Rosetta. This directly affects X-Rite's retired i1Match, ProfileMaker and MonacoPROFILER applications. However, the current i1Profiler and ColorMunki software does not rely on Rosetta and is fully compatible with Apple OS systems from 10.5.8, 10.6 and the new 10.7 Lion.
While we recognize there may be some workarounds such as creating a dual-boot Mac where one volume contains Lion and another runs an older version of the Mac OS, this is not ideal for most users. Therefore, X-Rite is providing our customers with upgrade paths so they can continue using X-Rite imaging solutions if they choose to upgrade to Lion.
Check out the X-Rite Software Compatibility Guide for more details including the upgrade path provided.

The top and bottom navigation sections of the site have been given a minor update. The most significant update being the removal of the entire site index from the bottom of every page. For various reasons, it was no longer practical to keep the large directory on every page of the site.
For those of you who liked having access to all reviews, tools and other site resources at one location, the new Site Index menu option is for you. From any location on any page on the site, you should be able to jump to the beginning or end of the page (press "Home" or "End") and click on the Site Index menu option to get the feature you want.
As always, let me know if you find any problems. Thanks!
Update: Please note that the menu bars should be black with near-white text.
This update included changes to the CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) file. Feedback indicates that some browsers are using a cached version of this file and that these users are seeing a near white-on-white menu bar. Try clearing the browser cache and refreshing the page (rebooting sometimes works as well) to properly see the new design.

As expected, the refurbished inventory at the Canon Online Store sold out almost immediately yesterday. But, new items have been trickling back into inventory throughout the day today. Of course, those items sell out again almost immediately.
Right now, lenses such as the 50 f/1.8, 50 f/1.4, 50 f/2.8, 60 f/2.8, 85 f/1.8 and 300 f/4 IS are in stock. My advice is to keep hitting the following links and scan for the red "ADD TO CART" buttons as you get a chance:
Refurbished Canon DSLR Cameras
Refurbished Canon Lenses and Flashes
As I said yesterday, these are incredibly hot prices. For example, the refurbished Canon EOS 7D was only $1,155.15. If something you want shows up in stock, check out as fast as you can to make sure that you get it.
Update: How about a Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Lens for $1,495.32 - In stock at this moment.
