The new lens will be on sale October 28, 2021, at $899 USD. Due to the current global health crisis, the release date or product supply schedule could change.
The 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 (Model A063) is the successor of the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036), a popular zoom lens that has earned high evaluation worldwide. It reflects the fruits of continuous evolution and customer-focused refinement. Retaining the well-received compact size of its predecessor, the new 28-75mm F2.8 G2 incorporates a new optical construction based on a design that has been revamped to enhance imaging performance and its features are compatible with the latest model digital cameras that offer increased resolution. The AF drive, TAMRON’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism, is adopted to deliver higher autofocus speed with greater precision. With the MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 7.1” at the wide end and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7, the lens boasts advanced close-up shooting performance. Additionally, it features a new design in the pursuit of enhanced operability and ergonomic texture.
TAMRON pioneered the category of compact fast-aperture standard zoom lenses for mirrorless cameras and the new 28-75mm F2.8 G2 truly is a next-generation lens for everyday use.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
1. Best image quality in standard zoom lens class
The optics have been revamped from the ground up, employing the latest design expertise to develop an optical construction with 17 elements in 15 groups. With two optimally arranged LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements, optical aberrations are controlled to the maximum degree possible. Image quality at wide-open aperture has been significantly improved over the predecessor Model A036, offering extremely high resolution throughout the entire zoom range and from edge-to-edge of the frame. The lens also delivers the soft and beautiful bokeh effects distinctive to fast-aperture lenses. The new 28-75mm F2.8 G2 achieves extremely high performance when paired with high-grade, ultra-high resolution digital cameras and is the same compact size as its predecessor Model A036.
2. Fast, quiet VXD linear motor for high-speed and high-precision autofocus
The AF drive system employs TAMRON’s VXD linear motor focus mechanism. The high-speed, high-precision AF is exceedingly responsive to the actions of the photographer, providing a dependable and steady focusing experience from the MOD to infinity, despite the fast F2.8 aperture. Focusing speed has been improved approximately twice[2] as fast as its predecessor. The lens offers excellent focus tracking of moving objects, so you are ready for those important moments. Additionally, the focus motor is quiet, so it is ideal for shooting both still images and video in situations that demand low noise.
3. MOD of 7.1” at 28mm and maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7 for creative close-ups
The Model A063 features an MOD of 7.1” at the wide end, an improvement over the 7.5” limit of the Model A036. The working distance shrinks to around 1.7” when operating at the MOD. With a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7, you can get close to your subject for wide macro photography, enabling powerful visual impact with the subject large while keeping a wide view of the background in frame.
4. New design provides enhanced texture and greater user-friendliness
The all-new 28-75mm F2.8 G2 incorporates a new design that becomes the hallmark of TAMRON lenses introduced in the future. Changes to the texture of the zoom ring surface and focus ring surface improve the grip and enhance ease of operation. The surface of the lens exterior is shiny black, much glossier than previous models. Improved abrasion resistance makes the lens harder to scratch and resists fingerprints. In addition, certain internal parts have been enhanced. These advancements result in smoother overall operability. TAMRON has also adjusted the resistance and torque of the zoom ring to facilitate smoother and more precise operation.
5. Lightweight, compact design with emphasis on ease of use, plus 67mm filter size
6. Compatible with many camera-specific features and functions, including Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
1. The world's first F2-2.8 fast-aperture zoom lens The new 35-150mm F2-2.8 features a fast maximum aperture of F2 at the 35 mm focal length, compared to the typical F2.8 fast-aperture zoom lenses. This lens enables you to achieve enhanced, beautiful bokeh style even on the wide-angle end of the lens's focal range. The faster F2 aperture allows use of higher shutter speeds and lower ISO settings, so users enjoy less potential camera shake and reduce high-ISO image noise.
2. Versatile zoom range provides seamless shooting from wide-angle 35mm to telephoto 150mm The 35mm to 150mm zoom range of the new Model A058 is ideal for travel photography because you can do so much with just one lens. You can capture snapshots at the wide angle of 35mm or standard angle of 50mm, close-up portraits at 85mm and telephoto shots at 150mm. The responsive zoom ring enables you to continue shooting as you shift from wide to telephoto seamlessly and smoothly without changing lenses—which is convenient for video as well as still photography.
3. Even when used with today’s extra-high-resolution digital cameras, it consistently achieves high image quality to the edges of the frame and reduces onion ring bokeh (concentric circles) while presenting a beautiful, soft bokeh style that is achieved only by fast apertures. The versatile zoom range enables photographers to express themselves freely while capturing images focal lengths they are familiar with, including 35mm, 50mm (considered “normal” or standard), 85mm (mid-telephoto length commonly used for portraits), 100 mm or 135 mm, as well as the maximum 150mm tele focal length—and any focal length in between. It’s like six lenses in one!
4. Fast, quiet VXD linear motor mechanism for high-speed and high-precision autofocus The lens's AF drive uses the linear motor focus mechanism VXD. The high-speed, high-precision AF provides the lens with superior responsiveness to the photographer’s actions, delivering stable and reliable focusing even with fast-aperture lenses, from the MOD (Minimum Object Distance) to infinity. The 35-150mm F2-2.8 offers excellent focus tracking of moving objects so you are ready for those important moments. Additionally, the focus motor is quiet, so it is ideal for shooting both still images and video in situations that demand low noise.
5. Superior close-focusing capability with an MOD of 0.33m (13 in) at the wide end for creative close-ups
6. Compact body with 35-150mm zoom range and fast F2 maximum aperture
7. New design provides enhanced grip and greater intuitive operation
8. Moisture-Resistant Construction, Fluorine Coating, and hood with locking mechanism for greater convenience

Ordering first and asking questions later is usually a good decision for any newly announced product, and that was my recommendation in the R3 announcement coverage. Unfortunately, Canon has already added that hot camera model to the supply constraint list. Worse, the two new lenses also hit the list.
A head's up for Sony users, note that all of the lens and most of the camera instant savings programs were just discontinued.

The EOS Revolution Continues: Canon Officially Announces the Company’s Most Technologically Advanced Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera, the Professional-Grade EOS R3
MELVILLE, NY, September 14, 2021 - Building on the success of the EOS R camera series, Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the next leap forward in full-frame mirrorless cameras - the professional-grade Canon EOS R3. The new camera leverages the advancements in technology that Canon has developed since the original EOS R launch in 2018 and bridges the gap between the immensely popular EOS R5 and the world-renowned Canon flagship EOS-1D X line. The EOS R3 is the first “3” series camera from Canon since the widely used EOS-3 film camera launched in 1998.
The EOS R3 camera’s features greatly emphasize superb AF performance and speed with fast-moving subjects. It was designed to meet the reliability and durability demands of professionals, even when working in some extremely challenging conditions.
“The launch of the EOS R3 sets a new benchmark for the Canon EOS R camera system. Canon listened carefully to the voices of professionals when developing a camera to meet their standards,” said Tatsuro “Tony” Kano, executive vice president and general manager of Canon U.S.A.’s Imaging Technologies & Communications Group. “The EOS R3 is a monumental evolution in digital imaging technology. I look forward to seeing the camera in action on the sidelines of sporting events and in the hands of nature and wildlife photographers across the globe.”
The core of the EOS R3 features a Canon designed and manufactured 24.1-megapixel back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor. The sensor is the first of its kind from Canon, and when combined with the DIGIC X processor, delivers a high-speed readout allowing for continuous blackout-free shooting1 at up to 30 fps in electronic (silent) shutter mode and up to 12 fps in mechanical shutter, with minimum rolling electronic shutter distortion. The combination also increases the high sensitivity, light-capturing efficiency of a native ISO range of 100-102400, expandable up to 204,800 for still images. Like the EOS R5 and R6, the camera features the improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with 1,053 AF Points and evolved EOS iTR tracking down to EV -7.5 for subjects such as eye, face, head, animals2, and select cars and motorcycles. In addition, the camera features up to 8 stops3 of in-body image stabilized (IBIS) shake correction.
Leveraging technology and performance feedback from the popular EOS R5 and EOS R6 cameras, the EOS R3 uses Deep-Learning technology to further enhance eye and body detection for even better performance during portrait and action-type shooting. Featuring a new 5.76-million-dot and 120fps blackout-free1 Electronic Viewfinder, the EOS R3 camera will provide photographers with the ability to select the initial area for AF tracking by simply looking directly at the viewfinder location where they want to begin AF. With Eye input AF2 and Servo AF activated, the camera will focus on and track moving subjects at that location in the frame. When Face Detect + Tracking is active, the camera will continue to follow moving subjects around the entire active AF area.
The EOS R3 camera doesn’t just capture spectacular still images, it also packs impressive video specs as well. The camera is capable of shooting 6K 60p RAW and 4K 120p 10-bit uncropped video with Canon Log 3 support, in addition to the possibility for oversampled 4K and RAW movie internal recording. Canon Log 3, which is frequently used in cinema production, helps to reduce the possibility of highlight blowouts. What’s more, the features such as industry standard BT.709, BT.2020 color gamuts, and cinema gamut help to maintain color and tonal consistency. Coordinated 5-axis IBIS helps to correct operator motion or shaking providing dependent video capturing even when using a lens without built-in Optical IS.
Additional features of the EOS R3 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera include:
The Canon EOS R3 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera is scheduled to be available in November 2021 for a suggested retail price of $5999.00*.

SIGMA Introduces 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary Lens
See the bigger picture.
KEY FEATURES:
The all-new SIGMA 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary delivers exceptional edge-to-edge rendering power in an ultra-compact, all-metal body. This impressive, wide-angle, I series prime is now available for L-Mount and Sony E-mount systems.
The 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary premium compact prime is the latest prime lens to be added to SIGMA's growing I series range. It joins four existing I series lenses as well as the new 90mm F2.8, offering superb optical performance, a bright F2 aperture, an all-metal build and a manual aperture ring. Designed from the ground up for mirrorless systems it feels perfectly-balanced on modern full-frame bodies, and boasts exceptional resolving power that can keep up with the latest ultra-high-resolution cameras.
The lens' advanced optical design produces sharp, high-contrast results from the center of the frame to the far corners, and together with its F2 aperture and wide angle-of-view, it's an excellent choice for night sky photography, events and interiors. Owing to its compact size, the lens can be carried around effortlessly, which makes it perfect for day-to-day use. The high quality, all-metal construction – which is found on all of SIGMA's I series models – makes the experience of owning and operating this lens extremely satisfying.
This new full-frame 24mm F2 prime is designed for photographers who need a sharp, fast, robust, wide-angle optic that will not weigh them down. It is available for L-Mount and Sony E-mount systems.
I series | Premium Compact Primes for mirrorless users
The SIGMA I series features full-frame-compatible lenses that offer mirrorless users a new and better alternative, both in the experience of shooting with the lens and in the impressive results it is able to achieve.
One of the key advantages of mirrorless cameras is their smaller form-factor, and this new SIGMA 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary optic is designed to be perfectly matched to these more compact systems without sacrificing performance. This combination of superb optical quality with exceptional portability, not previously possible with DSLR systems, will bring new opportunities to this and future generations of photographers.
Simultaneously, SIGMA is aware that, in this day and age when we have such huge diversity when it comes to what we use to photograph, as represented by smartphones, people look for something more than a mere act of "taking pictures" when they choose to own a camera and lenses.
SIGMA's excellence in development and processing technologies has been built up since it was founded in 1961, and has become further sophisticated with the introduction of the SIGMA Global Vision in 2012. With this as a base SIGMA has given careful thought to how photographers use and enjoy their lenses, including optical design, advanced functionality, build quality and the experience of picking up and using the lens, and with all of this carefully considered the I series was born.
New standards of optical performance for the Contemporary line
The SIGMA 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary, like the SIGMA 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary and the SIGMA 65mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary, combines the highest level of optical performance even at its maximum aperture of F2 and a well-balanced body.
The lens uses two SLD glass elements and one FLD glass element to correct axial chromatic aberration, which is a particular concern with bright lenses. It also incorporates two high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements, made possible by the processing technology of SIGMA's sole production facility in Aizu. This has enabled the total number of lens elements to be kept down and the size and weight of the lens to be reduced, while providing excellent correction of various aberrations.
In anticipation of wide-angle lens applications, SIGMA's optical designers have ensured the lens resolution is extremely high, and is uniform from the center to the periphery of the image. Sagittal coma flare is also well suppressed, giving the lens a high degree of rendering power that makes it ideal for night sky photography.
The AF drive system incorporates a quiet, high-speed stepping motor. This allows photographers to capture every detail of the spacious 24mm scene with light AF.
Exceptional I series build quality with a compact form-factor
All I series lenses have an all-metal construction. The precision-cut aluminum parts not only give the barrel a sleek, stylish finish, but provide superb durability that improves the quality of the entire product. Metal materials are also used in internal structures that slide with the operation ring for added robustness. These high-precision components crafted with SIGMA's cutting-edge metalworking technology are also used in SIGMA's cine lens line-up for professional cinematographers and provide a tactile, ergonomic feel that make the lens a pleasure to use.
The cover ring between the focus ring and the aperture ring has hairline processing that is also used for the rear cylinder of the Art line. This covering functions as a finger hold when attaching or detaching the lens.

The SIGMA I series features full-frame-compatible lenses that offer mirrorless users a new and better alternative, both in the experience of shooting with the lens and in the impressive results it is able to achieve.
One of the key advantages of mirrorless cameras is their smaller form-factor, and this new SIGMA 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary optic is designed to be perfectly matched to these more compact systems without sacrificing performance.
The SIGMA 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary boasts exceptional optical performance with a ultra-high resolving power to match the latest high-resolution mirrorless cameras.
The lens is built using the very latest optical technology, and includes five SLD glass elements. This helps to reduce axial chromatic aberration that cannot be corrected in-camera, allowing the lens to achieve high resolution and clear image quality with no color bleeding. A high-precision glass molded aspherical lens provides both high resolution and beautiful bokeh. Photographers can enjoy shooting with soft, large bokeh without coloration and this is something that only a full-frame lens is able to deliver.
The lens also utilizes the camera's optical correction functionality, which is an advantage of mirrorless systems, SIGMA's optical designers were therefore able to concentrate on correcting aberrations that can only be corrected by the optical design, thereby improving rendering performance and reducing the size and weight of the lens.
With a minimum focusing distance of 50cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5, close-up macro-style photography is possible. The lens highlights the subject, allowing photographers to focus in on fine details or create more abstract compositions.
The AF drive system incorporates a quiet, high-speed stepping motor, making it suitable for still images as well as video recording.
The 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary shares the same 64mm maximum diameter and 55mm filter size as the 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary and the 45mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary, making them a natural trio, especially for filmmakers who use filters more regularly. With a combined weight of only 735g / 25.9 oz.*, these three lenses (wide-angle, standard, mid-telephoto) can be used together as part of a high-spec and compact camera system that covers a wide range of shooting situations.
