Photo Competition Challenges Photographers to Provide “Images of Heroism” for a Chance to Win Pelican Gear

Torrance, CA, – October 15, 2019 – With a long history of providing protective cases for both photographers and first responders, Pelican Products today announced its Portraits of Protection photo competition. This program brings these two communities together to immortalize heroes who’ve stepped forward in the face of danger.

Pelican invites photographers to submit photos of either heroism in action, or the faces of heroes, and post on Instagram tagging @pelicanprofessional, #PortraitsofProtection, and #PelicanPhotoContest for a chance to win. Each month, the most moving and visually interesting photos will be selected as winners and featured on Pelican Products’ social media channels. The winning photographers and heroes photographed will each receive their choice of $500 in Pelican gear. “At Pelican, we recognize our products are put in critical situations with first responders that require them to perform every time. There is a sense of responsibility that goes into every product we make,” said Lyndon Faulkner, CEO of Pelican Products. “Our hope is that we receive images from these skilled photographers that serve as a daily reminder to our team, of the responsibility they accept every time they walk through the door, and to honor these real-life heroes.”

Portraits of Protection corresponds with Pelican’s charitable giving program, ‘PELICAN PROTECTS – Supporting the Heroes Who Protect Us’, in alignment with its continued support of first responders and related causes.

Portraits of Protection contest details are available online here and entries will be accepted now through January 14, 2020.

From Pelican:

Torrance, CA - Users no longer have to choose between the versatility of the TrekPak divider system or the protection of Pick N Pluck foam with the new Pelican Hybrid Cases. Available as a new standard offering in either the Pelican 1510 or Pelican Air 1535 Carry On Case, the interior features both the TrekPak system and the classic Pick N Pluck manually customizable foam.

“This new, extremely versatile configuration offers users the best of both worlds and a host of new organizational options,” said John Luna, Director of Commercial/Government Product Management, Pelican Products, Inc.

TrekPak Divider System

Case owners simply need to lay out their gear the way they wish for it to appear in the case, measure and cut the divider sections, and lock them in place with the provided U-pins. Each divider section is manufactured from a waterproof, closed-cell foam that is laminated to a rigid corrugated plastic panel. They are light weight, strong and almost impossible to tear or shred. Additional divider panels are available separately to switch up the layout any time.

Pick N Pluck Foam

Classic and simple Pick N Pluck foam is pre-scored and cubed for easy manual customization and offered standard in almost all Pelican case models. Replacement foam is available separately when the interior layout changes.

The Pelican Air 1535 Carry On case is engineered with a next generation polymer construction that is up to 40% lighter than standard Pelican Protector Case brand cases, yet still stands up to the harshest conditions on earth. It also features a removable rugged ID card holder. Since its introduction in 2004, the Pelican 1510 Carry On case has been the industry standard for travelling with sensitive equipment that users don’t want to check in. Its extremely tough polymer construction protects mission critical equipment in worst case scenarios.

Both cases sport a sturdy pull handle coupled with smooth stainless steel ball bearing wheels for effortless transport, a polymer O-ring for a dust and water-resistant seal, and an integrated automatic pressure equalization valve that keeps moisture out and prevents vacuum lock, ensuring the case is easier to open at any altitude. Available in black only, both cases are backed by the Pelican Products Legendary Guarantee of Excellence. Pelican Air 1535 Carry On case with hybrid foam MSRP is $324.95 US and the Pelican 1510 Carry On Case with hybrid foam MSRP is $299.95 US.

B&H has the Pelican 1535AirTPF Wheeled Carry-On Case with TrekPak Dividers and Pick-n-Pluck Foam available for preorder.

From Pelican (thanks Trent):

TORRANCE, CA – May 30, 2018 – Pelican Products, Inc. (Pelican), the global leader in the design and manufacture of high performance protective cases, has assumed exclusive control of the TrekPak brand, along with all production, sales and marketing for this innovative divider system. The TrekPak system provides the ultimate organization and protection as an interior solution for a wide variety of applications for your Pelican cases. The new agreement allows Pelican to extend the TrekPak dividers across a broader range of Pelican’s cases, including the Pelican Air, Protector Case and Storm Case lines.

In 2016, Pelican began distributing TrekPak dividers as a new configuration in 6 of their most popular sizes. Today, Pelican offers TrekPak dividers in 18 case sizes, with plans to extend the divider system to most case models. Additionally, customers are now able to purchase the TrekPak divider system as an accessory, as well as a case configuration, directly and exclusively from Pelican.

TrekPak first introduced the divider system in 2012 as an aftermarket case accessory, recognizing the need for a modular solution that organizes and protects equipment inside Pelican cases. Users across multiple industries soon adopted the design as the premium alternative to foam or padded dividers in their cases. “Pelican continues to set the standard for protection and transportation across a variety of industries,” said Georgia Hoyer, Founder of TrekPak.

“Pelican looks forward to bringing new innovative TrekPak solutions for various applications to market soon and continuing to enhance our customer experience when it comes to protecting all that you value” stated John Luna, Director of Product Management for Pelican.

From Pelican:

Up To 40% Lighter and 45% Deeper for the Perfect Fit

Torrance, CA— August 15, 2017 - Pelican Products, Inc. (Pelican), the global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance cases, today set another benchmark for the segment with the launch of three new deeper cases in the re-engineered, up to 40% lighter, Pelican Air Case line.

Since 1976, the classic Pelican Protector Case has been the go-to protective case solution for millions of professionals and consumers worldwide. As a part of the innovative and lighter Pelican Air case line, the three new cases, 1557, 1607 and 1637, continue Pelican’s relentless quest to offer users more versatility, portability and durability.

“Our engineering team consistently explores how to deliver innovative and meaningful new solutions,” said Stephan Corti, President, Pelican Products Commercial and Government Division. “The Pelican Air case line is a major transformation, designed to maintain Pelican’s signature concept of high-performance durability while cutting the weight out.”

The entire Pelican Air case line, constructed of lightweight HPX2 resin, is available in nine travel-ready sizes, in both long and, now, deep options. With over 13” of depth available, the new cases provide room for fragile and valuable equipment, such as drones and cinema-grade cameras. Pelican Air cases continue to be the gold-standard of premium equipment protection while remaining 40% lighter and now 45% deeper. All Pelican Air cases are available in black, yellow, orange, and gray.

Available configurations offer the choice of four unique interior options to meet almost any performance needs

  • The TrekPak Divider system (not available with 1607 or 1637), feature durable, waterproof, closed-cell foam laminated to corrugated panels to provide a fully customizable and precise protection grid without wasting space.
  • The Classic Pick N’ Pluck Foam offers a manually customizable solution for fast and simple protection with pre-scored foam to fit almost any equipment.
  • The Padded Divider configuration includes infinitely customizable, protective, padded dividers with Velcro so users can change their equipment organization scheme on a moment’s notice.
  • The No Foam configuration allows a blank slate for custom interior solutions.

“I couldn't wait to customize my Pelican Air case with the TrekPak system,” said Roy Pena, fire photographer, Bakersfield, CA. “I was able to fit all my camera gear in its own tailored compartment. When you're shooting action shots, like a fire in the heat of the moment, you have to rush in to get the shot. If you don't know exactly where the right gear is, you miss it".

The new 1607 and 1637 cases have wheels, roll tested over 914 meters. The line’s newest products boast classic Pelican case features including a watertight O-ring gasket, a crushproof and dustproof exterior, stainless steel hasp protectors, rubberized, over-molded handles and proven tough double-throw latches. Each Pelican Air Case meets the same performance tests (impact, drop, submersion and high and low temperatures). Pelican Air cases are also backed by the company’s legendary lifetime guarantee of excellence.

From Pelican:

TORRANCE, CA — April, 15, 2016 – Since 1976, the Pelican classic Protector case has been the go-to protective case solution for millions of people worldwide. It has made an impact in industries ranging from military and aerospace to photography and hunting. Today, Pelican is proud to announce the outcome of a relentless quest to offer Pelican users more versatility than ever before: Introducing Pelican Air cases. These new cases have been engineered to maintain the same standard of durability, but reduce the weight of each case by up to 40 percent and offer new size selections not currently available in the Pelican classic or Pelican Storm lines.

Available in six long-form, travel-ready sizes, Pelican Air cases are constructed of lightweight HPX2 resin, the next generation of Pelican’s proprietary formula that rebounds to stress without breaking. With the busy traveler in mind, the 1535 Pelican Air case (Wheeled Carry On) complies with overhead bin standards and the 1615 Pelican Air case (Wheeled Check In) complies with current airline check-in size regulations.

Additional models are currently in development with more than 20 new sizes making their debut over the next 18 months. Each case passes the same performance tests (impact, drop, submersion, high and low temperature) that Pelican users have come to trust and is backed by the company’s legendary lifetime guarantee of excellence.

“The Pelican brand is synonymous with protection and has set the gold-standard in the protective case market for more than 40 years,” said Lyndon Faulkner, President and CEO of Pelican Products. “While using the Pelican classic case design as the basis for the new line, our engineers have spent the past two years reimagining the classic case with a focus on taking out weight while maintaining the same high level of performance customers have come to expect from Pelican. This revolutionary Pelican Air case design underscores Pelican’s continuing commitment to innovation and making a legendary product even better.”

To construct a lighter case, Pelican’s engineering team faced the challenge of building lightness into every facet of the design without compromising Pelican’s renowned durability. By working with a team of materials scientists, Pelican was able to construct cases that are the lightest protective cases on the market today.

Pelican Air cases are available with several configurations:

  • No Foam (empty)
  • Pick N Pluck foam – manually customizable cubed foam
  • Padded Dividers – newly redesigned with a fully-sewn tub, felt exterior and high-visibility yellow interior, making it easier to identify equipment
  • TrekPak – a completely new divider system with rigid, customizable panels and locking pins

Pelican Air cases are available through select dealers, distributors and retailers starting May 1, 2016.

B&H has the Pelican Air Cases available for preorder.
