Introducing Manfrotto Move Ecosystem: Create at the speed of inspiration
Cassola, Italy, October 2021
Manfrotto, the worldwide leader in photography and videography supports, has unveiled the first products from an all-new modular line that comprises their forward thinking Move Ecosystem. Developed to harness the concepts of speed of use and versatility, these dedicated Move Ecosystem products are designed for today's modern creatives who shot both video and photo and want the ability to transition frequently between their varying supports with no lag. Move signals the birth of a faster and more versatile future for the workflow of photo and video professionals everywhere who will finally be able to move limitlessly at the speed of their inspiration.
The Move Ecosystem is designed around the new Quick Release System, a lightweight base and plate system which when attached to users various supports offers increased speed of transfer between them without having to stop to screw and unscrew parts. It all happens in one click that immediately actions professional stability no matter the direction in which the equipment is inserted, though an additional twist lock is provided to ease heavy users minds. And while speed is certainly a profound benefit of the Quick Release System, due to its universal 3/8” connection standard, the system is capable of connecting varying support types to each other revealing enhanced functionality from users existing systems. For example, Manfrotto tripods can be coupled with sliders and different heads on top, while Manfrotto’s Gimboom can be paired with the new Modular Gimbal 300XM in order to have a 2 meters long stabilized support with remote control capabilities that can be fully operated by a single user.
This is possible due to the 300XM Gimbal’s detachable modular construction including its stabilizing head and electronic controls which when separated can still communicate via bluetooth connection. The gimbal head can also be adapted onto a completely separate support such as a tripod or slider, for example, and be used a remotely operated shooting station. With its limitless modular application this market leading handheld Gimbal is guaranteed to redefine the standards of professional gimbal support for CSC users.
And while Move’s innovative adaptability is set to make huge improvements to the speed and versatility of production, Manfrotto’s approach to modularity isn’t just looking to what’s new. With a brand-new set of attachable twin legs Gimboom has also been revamped to introduce the two-in-one solution Gim-Pod, which equally performs as a professional grade boom as well as a tripod. Paired with Manfrotto’s newly announced and upcoming Q6 Ball Head featuring a sliding Arca-Swiss compatible top-locking mechanism and 3 bubble levels this configuration offers infinite applications for creators, from a lightweight kit.
The Move Ecosystem is much more than a collective of innovative solutions, it is a shift in paradigm. By harnessing the power of modularity Manfrotto has created a new age of interconnecting supports and parts that will allow professionals to not only move at an unprecedented speed but also allow users to customize their gear to meet their individual project needs. Welcome to the age of Move.

New EzyFrame Background 2m x 2.3m (6.5’ x 7.5’)
additional vintage covers and kits
Manfrotto, the world’s leading manufacturer of photography, video and cinema production equipment announces the launch of six new Vintage style Covers and Kits for the EzyFrame Background System.
These six new background surfaces have already proven extremely popular in our collapsible background collection and are favoured by image makers the world over for achieving a fashionable, hand painted vintage look that subtly complement the chosen subject in a truly portable solution.
These textures are inspired by this popular choice of background style and take influence from classic and present trends within the fashion, beauty and portraiture industry. They feature six fresh colours with a characteristic classic design and feel, which complement the existing range: Tobacco, Olive, Smoke and Concrete perfectly. Meaning there are now a total of ten beautiful surfaces to choose from in the highly innovative EzyFrame Background system.
The 2m x 2.3m (6.5’ x 7.5’) EzyFrame Background is a large format collapsible background system offering a much larger shooting area than our 5’ x 7’ collapsible ‘pop-up’ style backgrounds. The extra width and height combined with the squarer format offers an increased surface area of over 46% allowing the content creator to pose multiple subjects and use large props. Ideal for family portraits, more animated action poses, fashion and commercial shoots.
The Ezyframe Vintage Background features the tried and tested rapid assembly aluminium frame and clip on cover design used on our highly successful Skylite and ProScrim light control kits, Panoramic and Chroma Key FX Backgrounds and StudioLink Chroma Key solutions. Assembled in a matter of minutes the frame and cover packs down into a small rigid carry case measuring only 103cm x 19cm x 14cm (40.5” x 7.4” x 5.5”) making it extremely portable.
The EzyFrame Vintage Background covers include a small 15cm (6”) skirt along the bottom edge that conceals the aluminium frame and allows the user to combine the background with their chosen floor surface when shooting full length images. The background can be supported directly against a wall or freestanding using a light stand with a Manfrotto Griphead (LL LA8446). The EzyFrame Vintage Background is also compatible with the Manfrotto Aluminium Frame Support Kit (LL LA8450).
The backgrounds are available as kits which include frame, cover and carry case or ‘covers only’ for users looking to interchange different surfaces on the same frame.

These video monopods appear to be a great addition to the high value Manfrotto Element lineup.
Essentially, all tripods, monopods, and heads have included a weight capacity rating for as long as I can remember. However, a specific standard for establishing these ratings is seldom (never?) mentioned.
Manfrotto has just announced compliance with a new standard to ensure safety for supported gear.
For the first time in the imaging industry, UNI/PdR 105:2021 establishes an official reference practice for payload safety providing full transparency about payload measurements to consumers.
No more gear purchased on arbitrary product specifications:
UNI/PdR 105:2021 guarantees that a support loaded with a weight equal to the declared Safety Payload is never jeopardized, no matter the position, taken all the safety parameters into account.
Whereas, Max Payload indicates the maximum load a support can hold, sometimes not taking safety parameters into account. This means that applying the maximum weight, the support’s safety and functionality might be compromised.

B&H has the following Manfrotto Tripods in stock:
In the video above, the first line the narrorator says is, "Manfrotto's created the XUME system, a revolutionary way of attaching filters to lenses." The only problem is, the way I see it, they didn't actually create the XUME system. Instead, they acquired the XUME brand in September 2016, which had already been on the market for at least 5 years. And let me be clear, there's nothing wrong with acquiring a company's technologies so that you can market them along with your own product portfolio. However, taking credit for the invention is... a bit tacky, in my opinion.
Regardless of who created the system, the now-Manfrotto-branded XUME filter products are quite intriguing, potentially saving you some time and frustration in the field when switching between filters. [Sean]
What are your thoughts? Would it make a difference if Manfrotto hired the inventor of the XUME system when it acquired the company? Let us know in the comments.

Performance, Quality & Comfort, Redefined
Upper Saddle River, N.J. (June 13, 2017) – Manfrotto, a leading global innovator and manufacturer of premium photo, video and lighting support products and accessories, has launched the new Pro Light Bumblebee bags - perfect for professional and amateur photographers and videographers who work outdoors and want a reliable carrying solution. With this collection, users can stay comfortable in the harshest of conditions despite high temperatures, extreme cold or high humidity.
The new Pro Light Bumblebee family is an exceptional assortment of high-performance camera backpacks and messenger bags which perfectly embody Manfrotto’s Italian heritage. This family introduces Manfrotto’s unique-to-the-market breathable harness system that greatly reduces photography gear fatigue, allowing image makers to cover more ground and locate the best spots for the perfect shots.
Inside, the bags’ innovative designs safeguard the latest professional equipment options. The renowned Camera Protection System (CPS) dividers take extra care of camera bodies and lenses. They are fully adjustable and built to distribute weight evenly and avoid tension to the body.
The new Manfrotto Bumblebee backpacks are designed to take stress and heat off the shoulders, neck and lower back and feature Manfrotto’s state-of-the-art AirSupport breathable harness and back panel, adjustable sternum support, shaped hip and waist support systems. A side handle helps users put the pack on or take it off, while elastic side pockets keep water bottles outside the critical gear zone.
The removable Manfrotto CPS insert safeguards equipment right at the heart of the pack and keeps it organized with the efficiency of a portable studio:
The entire internal space is padded to protect camera gear but can be also configured to accommodate accessories and personal gear as well. The main zipper comes with four pullers, which can be divided by a stopper into a top and lower compartment. Just open the top zipper for rapid access to frequently used contents from above.
A smart NeverLose tripod connection secures both longer and shorter tripods on the side of the pack. The connection straps are stitched in the side pocket and can be tucked away when not in use for a tidier appearance and to prevent straps getting lost.
The bigger Bumblebee-230 PL also features a lens pouch located in the waist belt. When not in use, the pouch can be flattened by tightening the webbing strap. (This feature is not available in Bumblebee-130 PL.)
Manfrotto’s new Bumblebee Messengers have significantly raised the bar for their category: a combination of flawless design and reliable performance, they meet all the needs of demanding professionals who travel light and fast. Like the backpacks, the messengers’ body-gripping fit and 3-point AirSupport harness system is breathable and perfect for prolonged outdoor use. The length of the strap can be rapidly adjusted using the EasyGrip buckle.
Despite their compact size, they hold a substantial amount of professional gear:
These bags introduce the XtraSecure handheld gimbal-carrying solution - a stretchable band that holds the gimbal’s moving parts so it can be taken out quickly. The area can also be used as a traditional lens compartment if there is no gimbal in the bag.
Manfrotto’s Bumblebee Messengers feature a secure silent quick-access flap. When shooting in quiet environments (e.g. during a ceremony), apply the NoiseFree Velcro silencer to keep a low profile. The broad front organizer keeps everything on hand. There are two bungee cord straps to hang a small tripod, monopod or selfie pole, which are also protected by the front flap. The Bumblebee Messengers can hold a gripped DSLR body when you take out the laptop from its compartment.
All the bags of the Bumblebee collection come with a DuoFace sun/rain cover to protect from rain, reflect sunlight and keep the gear cool and dry all day long.
The following models are now available nationwide (links below go to B&H):

XUME Adapters, the magnetic quick release system for lens filters, was [seemingly] quietly acquired by Manfrotto in September of last year. When I contacted XUME to ask whether Manfrotto had taken over the brand or if it was simply a distribution partner, a spokesman (David) for the company said:
"XUME is a Manfrotto product as of September 2016. They haven't done a lot of press yet but will be doing an official re-launch soon."So what will this acquisition mean for the XUME brand? If I had to guess, I'd say that XUME products may benefit from increased promotion and wider availability in the months to come. Though, only time will tell. [Sean]

From Digital Imaging Reporter:
August 23, 2016—Upper Saddle River, NJ—Manfrotto Distribution Inc., Lino Manfrotto +Co S.p.A., Mamiya America Corporation (MAC Group) and Benro Precision Industrial Co., Ltd., announced that they have resolved Manfrotto’s patent infringement lawsuit.
The lawsuit had been pending in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Manfrotto and Lino Manfrotto had sued both MAC Group and Benro. They contended that Benro’s GoClassic and GoTravel tripods infringe Manfrotto’s U.S. Patent No. 6,164,843. That patent is for a photographic tripod providing support in various axes.
Consequently, MAC Group and Benro denied that their tripod products infringe the patent. Additionally, they countered that the Manfrotto patent was itself invalid.
Manfrotto is dismissing the litigation with prejudice. As a result, Benro and MAC Group have agreed not to import or sell the accused product in the United States until the expiration of the ’843 patent. The patent will expire on November 12, 2018. The terms of the settlement are otherwise confidential.

Getting a tripod in and out of these bags is easy and quick due to the zipper which extends down to the full length of the bag, even where the head is stored. Each version features a strap for comfortable carrying on a shoulder.
The 75cm version is also available in the full-padded option. Thanks to the padding on the entire length of the bag, maximum protection of the tripod is guaranteed. The thermoform padding on the top also protects the tripod with head mounted.

June 23, 2015 – Manfrotto, world leader in the photography and imaging equipment and accessories industry, announces the launch of the new XPRO Ball Head. Designed for passionate, advanced hobbyist photographers and experienced professionals, the new XPRO Ball Head completes the XPRO Heads range that is dedicated to the new 190 and 055 tripods.
It ensures three features essential to photographers: extreme precision, thanks to its Triple Locking System; portability, with a hard-wearing magnesium body; simplicity and convenience, thanks to its 200PL and Top Lock camera plates.
Introducing a new sphere lock mechanism, and triple locking system, the XPRO Ball Head is a state of the art head in the Manfrotto ball heads range. The triple locking system guarantees the camera position stability and avoids drifting. It consists of three wedges which apply pressure to the sphere to lock it in position, as the ball lock lever is rotated. The new polymer rings mean that photographers can count on extreme accuracy, and together with the sphere’s PTFE treatment the head ensures smooth, accurate and less jerky camera movement. The innovative sprung system means that, should the lever butt against something during the locking movement, it is possible to pull the lever and rotate to avoid any interference and reposition so it is ready for use. Finally, the levelling bubble helps the user level compositions precisely reducing post-production work.
Its magnesium alloy body, together with the new hollow sphere, enables the XPRO Ball Head to guarantee high payload performance while maintaining an extremely light structure. It weighs a mere 0.5 kg (1.1 lbs), but can support up to 10kg (22 lbs) of payload.
SIMPLICITY & CONVENIENCE
To match various needs, the XPRO Ball Head comes in two plate versions, each with a specific plate. The 200PL is the most common Manfrotto plate: its compact size and lightweight aluminium construction allow it to stay constantly attached under the camera – ideal for advanced hobbyists who are looking for a practical, easy to use product. The Top Lock is an innovative solution for experienced professionals, who need to feel totally secure even when using heavy and expensive high-end camera gear. The XPRO Ball Head is available in two versions that are distinguishable by the coloured finish on their magnesium body: the black version comes with the 200PL, while the grey version comes with the safe and rapid Top Lock System, the MSQ6PL (Arca-Swiss compatible) plate. The new XPRO Ball Head’s design follows the iconic new styling that unites Manfrotto’s entire offering for advanced hobbyists and professionals – while boasting groundbreaking technology, further proof of Manfrotto’s commitment to research and development.

Simply control the key camera parameters such as the exposure, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, manual focus, white balance and more all from the iPad.
Once all of the parameters are set, feel free to use the interactive focus and digital zoom right on the iPad as well to get the precise focus point of your subject. This is taking the weakest part of the camera, the LCD screen, and enlarging it with greater resolution to ensure before taking a shot your focus is spot on. There is also a focus peaking filter which will highlight focused profiles on the image for additional clarity. When you are ready, press the shutter release button on the iPad to take your shots! Then, use the app to take images straight from your camera and instantly download them to view, edit or share via social media or email.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for the Digital Director. Manfrotto is dedicated to continuously improving the app and adding more and more features! Coming soon, accessories will be made available including items such as cases and sun hoods, as well as a version for the iPad mini.
April 9, 2015 – Manfrotto is proud to announce the launch of the XPRO Geared Head. The new 3-way tripod head is designed for amateur and hobbyist photographers who require precise composition adjustments via geared movements, including macro, landscape and architectural photography.
For passionate photographers requiring precision, especially on location, this head designed by Manfrotto weighs only 750 g (1.65 lbs), but can support up to 4kg (8.8 lbs) of payload. Its Adapto body, a strong and rigid technopolymer, makes this head the most precise, lightweight head that Manfrotto has ever created. This allows landscape and architectural photographers to achieve their images on-location with less bulk than ever before.
Thanks to the XPRO Geared Head’s patent pending micrometric knobs, photographers can achieve their desired composition and refine their selections along a single axis faster than traditional ball heads. The geared movement of the head allows precise, micro step framing on all three axis, with confirmation via the three included bubble levels, one for each axis. The newly designed rotating knobs ensure ergonomic comfort even during extensive usage. Moreover, if the photographer doesn’t need to make fine adjustments, the axis locking system may be loosened with the Quick Movement levers, allowing for free movement along the axis.
By using one of the most common photographic plates in the world, the 200PL, the new XPRO Geared Head is compatible with Manfrotto’s most popular ball and 3-way tripod heads including the XPRO 2-Way fluid head, XPRO 3-Way head and 496RC2 ball head. This strikes the perfect balance between quick setup and savings: one plate is always attached to the camera, ready to be used in any situation with whatever photo or video support the photographer has on location.
Made in Italy
The new XPRO Geared Head is designed and manufactured in Italy. Utilizing premium materials and advanced engineering processes, the new XPRO Geared Head features a 10 year Canadian warranty.
The new Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way Geared Head will be available in Canada in late April at the suggested retail price of $259.95.

Upper Saddle River, NJ – July 10, 2014 – Manfrotto, a manufacturer of premium photo and video accessories, unveiled a new travel backpack in its Advanced bag collection: the MB MA-BP-TRV BeFree backpack. Billed as the perfect travel companion to the Manfrotto BeFree tripod, this new backpack features a unique carrying slot in the extendable side-padded pocket that is designed to fit the BeFree and other compact travel tripods.
The interior of the backpack was created to provide durability, flexibility and ease of use for travel-minded photo enthusiasts to carry their photographic gear and personal belongings in one compact bag. As part of the Advanced bag collection, the travel backpack features hard-wearing fabrics and professional features.
The backpack employs the Manfrotto Camera Protection System (CPS), which is designed to provide protection at its most vulnerable spot—the center of the bag, where the lenses are stored. It also has a rugged, durable bottom half that’s made of high-density nylon as well as nylon material on the top. It’s carbon detailing ties it in with Manfrotto’s Italian heritage.
The all-in-one carry solution is divided into two main compartments. The upper section is dedicated to personal belongings, while the bottom section has a quick side access. It can fit a DSLR with attached lens, two additional lenses, flash and accessories. Additionally, a 13-inch laptop can be stored in a back compartment. The bag can also be converted into an everyday backpack by removing the main compartment divider. And its extendable side-padded pocket makes it possible to add additional space to the bag by unzipping the pocket to insert a travel tripod.
Manfrotto’s Advanced bag collection includes six basic bag designs, each in various sizes, including active backpacks, tri-backpacks, gear backpacks, active slings, shoulder bags and holsters. Manfrotto’s new BeFree travel backpack is available now at Manfrotto Authorized Resellers.

Until now, if you asked me what I thought Manfrotto's biggest weakness was, I would have told you that it was the lack of compatibility with the Arca-Swiss clamp and plate standard. Manfrotto makes great gear and gives you a lot for your money. I very frequently recommend their products to those on a modest budget, but again, I found the lack of Arca-Swiss compatibility to be a drawback.
That drawback has now been erased. I am happy to report that Manfrotto has begun embracing the AS standard by releasing a new line of Arca-Swiss compatible quick-release mounts and plates.
