Preordering Canon gear as soon as it is announced is the best way to get it in your hands when it first becomes available.
We expect the preorder list to be fairly large for these highly anticipated DSLRs. If you haven't already preordered, now would be a good time to do so if one of Canon's ultra-high resolution cameras is on your wish list.
If you were one of the first to preorder, then your wait is likely coming to and end. :-)
If you want one of these cameras in your hands when June rolls around, preordering now will help ensure you receive one of the first available units.
Reminder: The ultra-high resolution Canon 5Ds and 5Ds R will be available for preorder at midnight tonight. We expect this camera to be in high demand – preordering at midnight will be the best way to ensure your camera arrives ASAP when shipping begins in June.
Please keep us in mind tonight. This site depends on support received from purchases you make using the links on our site. Please to navigate to B&H using our links when preordering:
UK Preorder Links (already live)
B&H has changed the status of the Canon EOS 5Ds and 5Ds R to read, "Item will be available for purchase on Mon, Mar 23 12AM".
That means midnight between Sunday and Monday, you should be able to preorder the highest resolution full-frame camera ever produced in whichever flavor you prefer.
Keep in mind – this site depends on support received from purchases you make using the links on our site. Please to navigate to B&H using our links once the preorders go live:
Update: For those in the UK, it looks like the cameras are already available for preorder from Wex Photographic:
The wait is almost over...
A second shipment will arrive early next week and will cover roughly the balance of the preorders.
This is a very highly anticipated lens. If it is on your wish list and you haven't preordered, now would be a good time to do so.
The rumored-for-about-a-decade-replacement for a 16-year-old, very popular lens is certain to be in very high demand. While I do not yet have insight into the initial inventory levels for this lens, I highly recommend that you preorder immediately if you want one of these highly anticipated lenses anytime soon. I expect long lines to form for this one.
B&H is accepting Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens preorders. Adorama and Amazon are also accepting preorders.
Adorama has the Canon EOS-5D Mark III DSLR Camera Kit with EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM Lens available for preorder.
Preorder now to get this long-awaited lens early in its street life!

I suspect that many calendars will be cleared this weekend.
Initial supplies of the EOS 1D X are expected to be limited. Shipments are expected to begin around the end of April (2012).
Abe's of Maine is now accepting Canon EOS 5D Mark III Body and Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105mm f/4 IS USM Lens preorders.
Updated: OneCall.com just started accepting Canon EOS 5D Mark III Body and Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105mm f/4 IS USM Lens
A suggestion for those of you wanting a 5D III ASAP: Include the with-kit-lens version on your preorder list. Canon has occasionally made the with-lens version of their DSLRs available first. Also, the number of preorders for the body-only 5D Mark III FAR outnumber the with-lens version preorders.
Here is another chance to get on the top of a 5D III preorder list: J&R just starting accepting Canon EOS 5D Mark III Body and Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens Kit preorders.
Sorry - The Amazon international URLs were not correct. I'll blame lack of sleep.
Adorama is accepting Canon EOS 5D Mark III Body and Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105 L IS USM Lens preorders.
Again, order fast if you want one. Remember the crazy prices that the 5D Mark II DSLRs were fetching on eBay when they first hit the streets?
I expect this camera to be very hard to get for a long time (the 5D II was). I highly recommend preordering immediately if you want one.
Amazon.com is now accepting preorders for these new lenses:
Adorama just started accepting preorders for the just-announced Canon lenses:
The expected availability listed for the 24-70 II is April 17 2012. The two new primes are on B&H's site and expected on June 17 2012, but these are not yet available for preorder:
Note that this camera will not (initially at least) be available at all Canon authorized dealers. Only 17 dealers will be authorized to sell the Canon Cinema EOS System. Many third party accessories should be available by release date which is listed as on or after Jan 30th.
The Canon EOS C300 Digital Cinema Camera (EF or PL Mounts) are available for preorder at B&H for only $15,999.00 - a huge discount from the Canon EOS C300 Digital Cinema Camera press release-estimated price of $20,000.
The Canon Zoom Cinema Lenses for the Cinema EOS System are also available for preorder at B&H. The Canon CN-E 14.5-60mm T2.6 L S Cinema Zoom Lens (EF or PL Mount) is priced at $42,750.00 and the CN-E 30-300mm T2.95-3.7 L S EF Mount Cinema Zoom Lens (EF or PL Mount) is priced at $44,650.00. Both prices are lower than expected - the Canon Prime and Zoom Cinema Lenses for Cinema EOS System press release listed the prices as $45,000.00 and $47,000.00 respectively.

I don't know how strong the initial G1 X inventory will be, but I expect demand for this camera to be quite strong.
Historically, if you are able to make a B&H preorder, you will get that item in the shipment they imminently expect to receive.
This is a great opportunity to get on the top of a waiting list for the lenses.
When B&H begins accepting preorders for an item, the item is usually expected to be in stock soon.
I expect this lens to be hard to get, so this is a good chance to get your name at the front of a preorder list of a reputable retailer. Canon's "approximate retail price" is $1,400, so I like J&R's price.
Adorama just began taking preorders for the new Canon cameras and lenses:
Note that a soon-to-be-fixed glitch is preventing these new items from being ordered without an in-stock item included in the order. If you are having problems, add a GTCL3612 (Giottos Anti-Static Microfiber Cleaning Cloth) to the order - and have it removed by customer service later if you don't want it.
This historically means that the lens will be available very soon - and that you will receive a lens out of the first shipment if you preorder from B&H now.
The Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS L USM Lens Review page is currently a hands-on preview of this new lens.
