From ExpoImaging:

WATSONVILLE, CA. – JUNE 15, 2016 – ExpoImaging, Inc., creator of the patented Rogue 3-in-1 Flash Grid, the first stacking honeycomb grid system for off-camera flash speedlights, today announced availability of new accessory White Grid Inserts for the Rogue Flash Grid.

Honeycomb grids attach to flashes in portrait photography help create mood or drama in an image. They are typically used to modify hair light, rim light, background light, or the main light to focus attention on the subject.

The new White Grid Inserts from Rogue Photographic Design were designed to scatter light exiting the product’s honeycomb grid cells. When directed towards a flat surface they produce a light pattern different from traditional black grids, a center spot surrounded by a glowing halo-like aura.

“Portrait photographers looking for a more gradual transition from light to shadow with their grids will be thrilled with our new White Grid Inserts for the Rogue 3-in-1 Flash Grid,” said Erik Sowder, ExpoImaging CEO. “When used in portrait photography, the edge of the lighting pattern produced by the white grids appears much softer and gentler, compared to the rapid fall-off and more dramatic lighting effect produced by black grids. This provides an advantage for creating smoother background lighting when shooting elegant or feminine styled portraits.”

The White Grid Inserts will not change the color of the flash. “Our experience manufacturing the ExpoDisc White Balance Filter helped us in our search to identify the best material to use in making the white grids,” said Sowder. “The result is consistent color from the center grid spot to the outer edge of the light pattern.”

As an accessory attachment to the popular Rogue 3-in-1 Flash Grid for speedlights, which offers photographers the versatility to choose between a 16º, 25º and 45º spot of light, the new White Grid Inserts give photographers even more choices to help them create the style of lighting and mood they envision for their subject’s image.

To use Rogue’s new White Grid Inserts, photographers need the attachment Grid Strap included with the Rogue 3-in-1 Flash Grid (sold separately). The White Grid Inserts cannot be attached to the flash without the Grid Strap. The Grid Strap can be purchased separately online for $14.95 at RogueFlash.com

Pricing and Availability

The new White Grid Inserts for the Rogue 3-in-1 Flash Grid are available from ExpoImaging’s distribution partners worldwide. The White Grid Inserts package includes the Grid Bezel, the 25° White Honeycomb Grid insert, and the 45° White Honeycomb Grid insert. The Rogue White Grid Inserts retail for $19.95.

From ExpoImaging:

Watsonville, California – February 05, 2014 ExpoImaging, Inc., distributor of the original Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter to the United States market, today announced availability of the Ray Flash 2: Universal Ring Flash Adapter.

“We are pleased to be able to introduce the new Ray Flash 2 to U.S. photographers,” said Erik Sowder, ExpoImaging CEO. “When the original Ray Flash was created, location photographers were astonished to find that they could use it to achieve ring flash-style lighting using their speedlights. Now, the Ray Flash 2 accommodates a much wider variety of DSLRs and speedlights with its adjustable and more affordable design.”

The patented Ray Flash 2 creates the characteristic ring flash look, a shadow-wrapped, flat lighting effect valued by photographers for fashion, portrait, and macro photography. To create this effect, the Ray Flash’s acrylic light guides efficiently direct light from a camera mounted speedlight into a circle around the camera’s lens.

The new Ray Flash 2 introduces a universal speedlight mount, adjustable height and a lower profile. A new, universal, adjustable mount with a spring-loaded clamp allows the Ray Flash 2 to quickly and securely attach to different sizes of speedlights. The center column of the Ray Flash 2 slides up and down to accommodate variations in camera and speedlight heights. The Ray Flash 2 is also available in two different versions, long and short, to fit the tallest and shortest DSLR bodies available. Ray Flash 2’s lower profile compared to the original Ray Flash makes it even more portable for location photographers.

Pricing and Availability

The Ray Flash 2: Universal Ring Flash Adapter is now available in the U.S. through photo specialty resellers nationwide. The Ray Flash 2 retails for $139.95.

ExpoDisc 2.0: The Original Professional White Balance Filter Gets Even Better; New Filter Design Includes Selectable Custom Warming Gels

Set white balance, meter for exposure and dust map the image sensor with the only calibrated and certified 18% transmission incident light metering filter

Watsonville, California, November 18, 2013 – ExpoImaging, Inc., designers of innovative camera accessories for the photographic market, today introduced the patented ExpoDisc 2.0 Professional White Balance Filter, an incident light metering filter for digital cameras, for both still and video applications.

"With the original ExpoDisc, we invented the digital white balance filter and established it in the market as the premium white balance tool by individually testing and certifying every ExpoDisc,” said Erik Sowder, ExpoImaging CEO. “Now, ExpoDisc 2.0 introduces user-selectable warming gels, an improved mounting design, and a new lower price-point.”

Whether shooting in RAW or JPEG, photographers using ExpoDisc 2.0 to white balance their images save valuable time during the photo editing process.

Beyond its primary function as a white balance tool, the precision calibration and uniformity of the ExpoDisc 2.0 means that it can also be used to meter for an 18% incident exposure and to dust map the image sensor. Made in the USA, every ExpoDisc 2.0 is tested by hand on a transmission spectrophotometer and individually adjusted using custom filters to ensure neutrality and an 18% total light transmission across the visible spectrum. This neutrality is important because using a non-neutral tool for white balance can actually add undesirable color casts to images.

The original ExpoDisc Professional White Balance Filter was available in separate Neutral and Portrait (warming) versions. ExpoDisc 2.0 combines these versions into a single tool. ExpoDisc 2.0 includes two levels of custom warming gels which can be inserted into recesses on the face of the ExpoDisc, enabling photographers to add varying degrees of warmth for pleasing skin tones.

The ExpoDisc 2.0’s new filter mount design attaches securely to lenses and even to low-profile threaded lens filters.

The ExpoDisc 2.0 will initially be available in a 77mm filter size with more sizes to follow. As with the original ExpoDisc, a larger ExpoDisc 2.0 can be used with smaller filter size lenses by simply holding the ExpoDisc 2.0 over the lens during the white balance procedure.

Pricing and Availability
ExpoDisc 2.0 is available now through ExpoImaging’s distribution partners worldwide. The ExpoDisc 2.0 77mm White Balance Filter retails for $49.95.

From ExpoImaging:

Watsonville, California – September 11, 2013 – ExpoImaging, Inc., designers of innovative camera accessories for the photographic market, today introduced the patent pending Rogue Safari Pop-Up Flash Booster, a unique attachment for DSLR cameras that concentrates light from the pop-up flash for photographing subjects at a distance. Optimized for use with telephoto zoom lenses that are 100mm and longer, the Rogue Safari focuses up to 8x more light (an improvement of up to 3 f/stops) on a subject than a DSLR’s unassisted pop-up flash, and up to 12x more than ambient light.

“Every photographer can think of a time when there just wasn’t enough light to get the shot they wanted, particularly at distances greater than 20-30 feet where the pop-up flash by itself simply isn’t powerful enough,” said Erik Sowder, CEO of ExpoImaging, Inc. “Using the Rogue Safari Pop-Up Flash Booster, it’s possible to light a subject at significantly greater distances, in some cases as far as 60-70 feet away. That extra light can make the difference between a sharp image with good color, and a dark, underexposed missed opportunity.”

The Rogue Safari is optimized to work with telephoto zoom lenses (100mm and longer) on most modern Canon APS-C or Nikon DX sensor cameras. The optically engineered lens captures light from the pop-up flash and narrowly focuses it for lighting more distant subjects, providing photographers of every skill level with increased flexibility to shoot in the most challenging lighting conditions.

“If you’re an avid weekend photographer shooting your kids’ soccer games, or you want to make sure to capture those vacation memories, you’ll be amazed at the amount of light you get from your pop-up flash with the Rogue Safari,” said Sowder. “The Rogue Safari puts out nearly as much light as a $500 accessory flash, except the Safari sells for just $35. At just 2 ounces (55 grams) the Rogue Safari is lightweight and simple to use, and it doesn’t require any batteries,” said Sowder.

With a flowing design aesthetic, the Rogue Safari looks like part of the camera. It is built to withstand the rigors of travel photography with the lens and body molded from rugged, impact resistant polycarbonate materials.

Pricing and Availability

The Rogue Safari Pop-Up Flash Booster is available now through ExpoImaging’s distribution partners worldwide. Rogue Safari retails for $34.95.

While the Rogue Safari Pop-Up Flash Booster is compatible with the vast majority of modern DSLR cameras, some older model DSLRs will not accommodate the Safari; owners of models launched before 2007 are encouraged to check the product compatibility chart here: http://www.RogueSafari.com.

Adorama carries the Rogue Safari.

From ExpoImaging:

Create a Strip Box, Soft Box or Shapeable Reflector

In Studio or on location, the Rogue XL Pro Lighting Kit gives photographers creative lighting control using speedlights, making a variable width strip box, a low profile soft box, or a multi-surface reflector. This durable, compact system of flash modifers packs flat and takes up very little room in a gear bag.

The XL Pro FlashBender Reflector allows you to control directional light by bouncing, curving, and reflecting the light where you want it.

The Strip Box Attachment is used in combination with the XL Pro FlashBender for greater edge lighting control. You can adjust the variable width of the strip to control how wide your light source will be and where the edge between highlight and shadow will fall.

The Soft Box Attachment is used with the XL Pro FlashBender to create more directional light than the base reflector alone, directing light forward and preventing it from going straight up. The diffusion fabric reduces specular highlights making for a beautiful main light for portraiture.

The Silver/Black Reflector Attachment is used with the XL Pro FlashBender to create a higher contrast light than the base reflectors medium contrast white material. The black side of the attachment can be used as a large flag, providing limited reflectivity while the light is directed forward along the reflectors edge.

All 4 Pieces are sold together in a single kit:

  • 1x XL Pro FlashBender White Reflector
  • 1x XL Pro Strip Box Diffuser Attachment
  • 1x XL Pro Soft Box Diffuser Attachment
  • 1x XL Pro Silver/Black Reflector Attachment

The Rogue XL Pro Lighting Kit will be available at authorized retailers for suggested retail price of $99.95.

B&H has the Rogue XL Pro Lighting Kit in stock.
