Nikon receives 4 TIPA Awards 2014

From Nikon:

TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce that four of its products—the Nikon D4S, Df, and D3300 digital SLR cameras, and the Nikon 1 AW1 advanced camera with interchangeable lenses—are recipients of the globally prestigious TIPA Awards 2014 for photographic and imaging products.

At four, Nikon received more awards for its digital cameras than did any other camera manufacturer. This is proof of just how well received the advanced technological capabilities, superior basic performance and convenient operation shared by Nikon digital cameras are. In addition, the innovation and superior functionality of the Nikon 1 AW1, the world's first (at the time it was released) waterproof, shockproof digital camera with interchangeable lenses, has also been recognized.

The best photographic and imaging products released over the past year in a number of categories were selected for the TIPA Awards 2014 through voting by editors of prestigious camera and imaging magazines from around the world.

See the following website for further information on the TIPA Awards 2014.

TIPA - TECHNICAL IMAGE PRESS ASSOCIATION

Reasons the Nikon D4S was selected for the Best Digital SLR Professional Award

The new EXPEED 4 image-processing engine, new Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor, and an effective pixel count of 16.2-million pixels enable capture of images that exhibit stunning sharpness, and enhanced depth. Recording of full-HD movies at a variety of frame rates is also possible. The D4S supports a broad range of standard sensitivities, from ISO 100 to 25600, as well as expansion up to the equivalent of ISO 409600. In addition, the new Group-area AF brings the number of AF-area mode options to five, and collaboration with the high-speed continuous shooting function, which supports shooting at approximately 11 fps with AF and AE tracking, enables a faster photographic workflow.

Reasons the Nikon Df was selected for the Best Premium Camera Award

The Df is a digital SLR camera with a subtle design reminiscent of traditional Nikon film SLR cameras, and offers intuitive dial operation. A magnesium alloy was adopted for the elegant body, and the combination of FX-format CMOS sensor, EXPEED 3 image-processing engine, and an effective pixel count of 16.25-million pixels ensure superior image quality. What's more, the camera is also equipped with a 2016-pixel RGB sensor, a 39-point AF system, a high-speed continuous shooting function capable of approximately 5.5 fps, and an optical viewfinder utilizing a glass pentaprism. The Df supports a broad range of standard sensitivities, from ISO 100 to12800, with maximum expansion to the equivalent of ISO 204800. The Df allows users to enjoy expressing themselves in a variety of ways with the combination of support for older non-AI NIKKOR lenses and cutting-edge technologies.

Reasons the Nikon D3300 was selected for the Best Digital SLR Entry Level Award

The Nikon D3300 is an entry-level model offering an effective pixel count of 24.2-million pixels and equipped with a Nikon DX-format CMOS sensor with no optical low-pass filter. It supports a range of standard sensitivities from ISO 100 to 12800, and is capable of high-speed continuous shooting at up to approximately 5 fps. Measuring approximately 124 mm wide, approximately 98 mm high, and approximately 75.5 mm deep (body only), the D3300 is nearly as small as a compact digital camera. This makes it easy for users to take the camera with them wherever they go. For those new to digital SLR cameras, the built-in Guide Mode provides step-by-step instructions for achieving the intended results, and the ability to attach and use the Wireless Mobile Adapter WU-1a (sold separately) enables wireless transfer of images to a smart device.

Reasons the Nikon 1 AW1 was selected for the Best Rugged Camera Award

In addition to offering the unique characteristics of all Nikon 1 cameras, including a compact size and high-speed performance, the Nikon 1 AW1 is the world's first digital camera with interchangeable lenses to be waterproof to a depth of 15 m and strong enough to withstand the shock of falls from up to 2 m. It is equipped with a number of functions convenient for use in outdoor situations, including GPS functions, altimeter, depth gauge, electronic compass, and virtual horizon. What's more, the Wireless Mobile Adapter WU-1b (sold separately) can also be attached and used with the camera. The AW1 has a built-in flash that can also be used underwater, is equipped with a super high-speed AF CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 3A image-processing engine, and offers an effective pixel count of 14.25-million pixels. The camera supports a broad range of standard sensitivities, from ISO 160 to ISO 6400, for crisp, clear imaging with very little noise at high sensitivities, whether shooting still images or recording movies. All 1 NIKKOR lenses can be used with the camera, including the 1 NIKKOR AW 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 and 1 NIKKOR AW 10mm f/2.8, the world's first water- and shock-proof lenses, released at the same time as the Nikon 1 AW1.

B&H carries the Nikon D4s, Df, D3300 & 1 AW1 digital cameras.
