Sigma Announces Release of 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports Lens
Ronkonkoma, NY, November 16, 2023 – SIGMA Corporation of America, the US subsidiary of SIGMA Corporation (CEO: Kazuto Yamaki. Headquarters: Asao-ku, Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa, Japan) is pleased to announce the official release of the highly-anticipated SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports lens.
A reliable and lightweight large-aperture telephoto zoom lens designed exclusively for full-frame mirrorless cameras, the 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports is available for Sony E-mount and Leica L-Mount. Combining high-speed AF, remarkably effective OS, exceptional mechanical reliability, and superior optical performance, this high-performance lens is purpose-built to meet the rigorous demands of professionals, and is suitable for a wide range of styles and genres including nature, wildlife, photojournalism, action sports, wedding and portraits. The lens will retail for $1,499 USD and will be available through authorized retailers on December 7, 2023.
Dust and splash-proof construction, high-performance optical stabilizer (OS), and an inner zoom mechanism that does not affect barrel length, are all features designed for the most demanding photographic conditions. It is also the first SIGMA DN zoom lens to be equipped with an aperture ring (click/declick type).
Streamlined optical design and a multi-material structure featuring magnesium and TSC have resulted in a lightweight lens body. A new compact tripod collar and foot also help minimize weight, as does a CFRP (carbon fiber-reinforced plastic) lens hood. Compared to the 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Sports for DSLR cameras (1,805g for SA mount), the 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports is significantly lighter (1,345g for L-Mount).
Featuring Dual HLA-driven floating focus for fast, accurate AF, the focus lens is driven using a high-thrust HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) as the focus actuator, and a floating focus is used to achieve high-speed AF drive. The floating configuration of this lens, in which the two focus groups are driven in opposite directions, reduces the amount of movement of each focus group to about half that of a single group focus system, achieving extremely fast AF that is highly responsive. The latest OS2 stabilization algorithm achieves image stabilization performance of 7.5 stops at the Wide end and 5.5 stops at the Tele end.
The SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports has very minimal focus breathing on both the wide and tele ends, making it a powerful lens for video applications. The minimal change in center of gravity enables stable shooting in all situations, including handheld, on a tripod, and with a gimbal. During zooming, five groups are moved to suppress aberration fluctuation, achieving high optical performance throughout the zoom range.

* Based on CIPA guidelines (Measured at 70mm and 200mm with a 35mm full-frame image sensor)
[Key Features]
1. High-speed AF and optical stabilizer function that maximize superior optical performance
The SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports, developed with professional use in mind, offers not only high optical performance, but also high-speed AF with a dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) and an optical stabilizer function with up to 7.5 stops. The Sports line lenses offer high optical performance, and all functions are based on state-of-the-art technology.
High descriptive performance at all zoom and focus ranges
The latest optical design, which employs luxurious glass materials including 6 FLD and 2 SLD elements of special low-dispersion glass, delivers high resolving power throughout the entire zoom range. Three aspherical lenses are used, as they are now indispensable for superior optical performance and streamlined lens construction. The exceptionally high precision of the aspherical lenses, which take advantage of the technical capabilities of SIGMA's only production facility, the Aizu factory, further improves optical performance. The incorporated floating focus is advantageous in improving short-range performance, ensuring a stable, high-level image quality throughout the entire range from the minimum focusing distance to infinity.
High-speed AF with a dual HLA
The SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports with floating focus has a structure in which the two focus groups move in opposite directions, thereby reducing the amount of focus lens movement by about half. In addition, the use of an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor in each of the two focus groups enables high-speed autofocusing. In addition to being fast and accurate, the lens also employs a control program that is designed to be quiet, so users can shoot movies comfortably without worrying about noise.
OS2 algorithm in optical stabilizer function
The latest OS2 optical stabilization algorithm provides an extremely high image stabilization effect of 7.5 stops at the wide end and 5.5 stops at the telephoto end*. The lens is equipped with two OS modes: Mode 1 is suitable for general shooting, and Mode 2 is ideal for panning shots of motorsports and other sports. In Mode 2, SIGMA's Intelligent OS, an algorithm specially designed for panning shots, enables effective image stabilization even when the camera is moved vertically or diagonally, irrespective of the horizontal and vertical orientation. This ensures that the subject's movement can be captured without losing the panning shot effect.
* Based on CIPA guidelines (Measured at 70mm and 200mm with a 35mm full-frame image sensor)
Designed to minimize focus breathing
The lens has been designed to suppress focus breathing. The change in angle of view due to focus shift is minimized, creating a natural-looking focus shift when recording video.
Designed to minimize flare and ghosting
Flare and ghosting, which reduce image quality, are addressed under all conditions of incident light based on the most advanced simulation technology. High backlight resistance enables clear and sharp images under any lighting conditions.
2. Top-level build quality condensed into a highly mobile lens
SIGMA is committed to excellent build quality in all its lenses. Among them, the SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports, which is part of the Sports line, offers not only high weather resistance performance for shooting in harsh environments, but also improved quality and durability through the use of cutting-edge materials in appropriate places based on a streamlined optical and mechanical design. At the same time, a high level of mobility is also realized, resulting in a professional equipment that can be used with confidence over the long term.
High quality and durability despite its small size and light weight
The latest optical and mechanical design streamlines the lens configuration and internal structure, resulting in a significantly smaller and lighter body than the previous SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Sports model. The body, including the hood, features a "multi-material structure" that optimally arranges materials such as magnesium, CFRP*1, and TSC*2. Even with enhanced mobility, the lens features SIGMA's renowned excellent build quality, including high durability, reliable rigidity, and various control rings and switches that have been carefully designed to feel good.
* 1 CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic), a light but strong material used in the interior and exterior fittings of aircraft, among many other applications.
* 2 TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) is a type of polycarbonate with a thermal expansion rate similar to that of aluminum. It has high affinity to metal parts which contributes to high quality product manufacturing.
Adoption of inner zoom mechanism
The zoom mechanism employs an inner zoom. Since the total length of the lens does not change with zoom operation, it is easy to handle when shooting hand-held, highly stable when installed on a gimbal, and resistant to dust and water droplets.
Weatherability of Sports line specifications
The mount connection, manual focus ring, zoom ring, switches, switch panel and exterior connection are all dust and splash resistant* to prevent dust and dirt from entering the lens. Further, the front element of the lens features a water and oil repellent coating to facilitate maintenance when water droplets or dust adhere to the lens.
* The structure is designed to be dust and splash resistant, but not waterproof. Be careful not to bring the lens in contact with a large amount of water. Water inside the lens may cause major damage and even render the lens unrepairable.
3. A wealth of functions to assist professional photographers
In addition to an aperture ring, a magnesium tripod mount, and various switches, the highly mobile lens has a wealth of functions available, enabling a more comfortable and versatile shooting experience for users.
Equipped with an aperture ring
This is the first SIGMA zoom lens for still photography to be equipped with an aperture ring. It is also equipped with an aperture ring click switch and an aperture ring lock switch, allowing for aperture operation suited to the shooting application.
Newly developed tripod socket
The lens body incorporates an Arca-Swiss compatible magnesium alloy tripod socket. The detachable leg is newly designed for the SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports in order to achieve a compact and lightweight design.
Customizable functions
Equipped with a Focus Limiter switch, the lens enables users to limit the focus driving range during AF when necessary, allowing quick and precise focusing.
Further, the lens features three AFL buttons* ready to be assigned to preferred functions using the camera. The AFL buttons are easy to operate regardless of how the camera is oriented or which settings are used.
For the L-Mount version, the SIGMA USB DOCK UD-11 can be used to set OS operation or focus limiter range for the Custom Mode switch.
* Only on compatible cameras. Available functions may vary depending on the camera used.
Tele Converter for L-Mount (1.4x / 2.0x)
The L-Mount version of the lens is compatible with the SIGMA TELE CONVERTER TC-1411 (1.4x) and TC-2011 (2.0x). Using a tele converter, the focal length can be multiplied by 1.4x and even 2x, for AF-enabled shooting at ultra-telephoto focal lengths of up to 400mm.
Cover-type lens hood included
A lightweight, high-strength, exclusive cover-type lens hood made of CFRP* is included. In addition to its slim design that does not impair the mobility of the lens, the tip of the hood is rubberized to protect the lens from abrasion and scratches caused by placing the lens upside down.
* CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic), a light but strong material used in the interior and exterior fittings of aircraft, among many other applications.

[ Key Features ]
1. Ultra wide-angle 14mm with a maximum aperture of F1.4 and outstanding optical performance
This world-first performance was achieved by applying the best of SIGMA's optical technologies, from the design to the lens manufacturing process. 19 elements in 15 groups, including 1 SLD glass element, 3 FLD glass elements, and 4 aspherical lens elements, make up a luxurious lens configuration. This allows for advanced aberration correction and a high degree of precision in the lens construction. This allows both advanced aberration correction and F1.4 brightness. In particular, sagittal coma flare, which distorts the shape of stars, has been carefully corrected, and even at the widest aperture, the lens delivers high image reproducibility right to the periphery of the image. Ghosting and flare are also thoroughly addressed through both optical design and coatings. This allows for clear, crisp shooting of starry sky and night scenes. These two lenses are offered in Sony E-Mount and Leica L-Mount. Both lenses will be available through authorized retailers in late April 2023.
The SIGMA 17mm F4 DG DN | Contemporary delivers supreme compactness in the widest "I series" lens to date. Compact, lightweight and high-performance ultra-wide-angle 17mm lens with an impressive minimum focusing distance. Now available as a "Premium Compact Prime" I series lens.
"Compact, lightweight and high-performance ultra-wide-angle lens". Using the latest technology, the 17mm has been created without compromise, despite this challenging design concept. Its wide-angle of view creates impactful landscape images with a unique perspective and, thanks to its minimum close focusing distance of 12cm, the lens can be enjoyed in a variety of alternative ways, including close-up photography and handheld selfies.
The optical design has been created exclusively for mirrorless camera systems, which helps reduce lens flare and ghosting that results in excellent image rendering. The all-metal lens barrel highlights SIGMA's craftsmanship and attention to detail, making the SIGMA 17mm F4 DG DN | Contemporary a pleasure to use on every shoot.
[Key Features]
1. "Ultra-wide-angle lens" that matches the optical performance standards set by the SIGMA Contemporary line of lenses.
The lens construction consists of two SLD glass elements and three aspherical lens elements. Aspherical lenses are used for both the front and rear optics. This not only keeps the size of the lens compact but also helps with correcting lens aberrations. As a result, the lens features a 55mm filter thread (which is smaller than comparable lenses of similar focal lengths) which makes it easy to change filters between SIGMA I series lenses that share the same filter size.* Its construction also helps minimize flare and ghosting that is commonly found in ultra-wide-angle lenses, creating clear images in any environment. This is a lens with truly modern performance, thanks to the advanced processing and production technologies at SIGMA's only production facility in Aizu.
*In addition to the 17mm F4 DG DN | Contemporary, I series lenses with a 55mm filter thread include the 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary, 45mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary, and 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary (as of April 2023).
A highlight of using the 17mm is the impressive minimum focusing distance of 12cm. Capture close-up macro style images in remarkable detail with expansive backgrounds. It is also suitable for selfies and vlogging, where items need to be shown at an arms-reach. A quiet, high-speed stepping motor drives the AF delivering fast and accurate results in both stills and video.
2. Beyond "beautiful pictures" – the value provided by the SIGMA's I series
The SIGMA I series features full-frame compatible lenses that offer new value to mirrorless systems. The combination of superb optical performance with a level of compactness that is perfectly suited to smaller and lighter modern mirrorless cameras will bring you new opportunities for a perfect shot. SIGMA is aware that in today's world we have a wide range of camera choices, especially with the increase in mobile phone ownership. But with many photographers looking for something more than something that simply captures images when they choose to own a camera and lens, I series lenses offer the ultimate combination of superb optical performance, outstanding usability and compact form-factor. SIGMA's excellence in development and production technologies has been built up since our founding in 1961 and became increasingly sophisticated with the introduction of the SIGMA Global Vision brand in 2012. With this as a base, SIGMA has given careful thought to the quality of the products, the feeling of using it and the pleasure of owning it. This is how the I series was born.
3. Exceptional I series build quality with a compact form-factor
All I series lenses have an all-metal construction. The precision-cut aluminum parts not only give the barrel a sleek, stylish finish, but provide superb durability that improves the quality of the entire product. Metal materials are also used in internal structures that slide with the operation ring for added robustness. These high-precision components crafted with SIGMA's cutting-edge metalworking technology are also used in SIGMA's CINE LENS line-up for professional cinematographers and provide a tactile, ergonomic feel that make the lens a pleasure to use. What is more with the I series is that this high build quality is condensed into a palm-sized lens body. The SIGMA 17mm F4 DG DN | Contemporary is one of the smallest in the series. Combine with multiple I series lenses to create a remarkably compact shooting system that is lightweight and small in size.

Performance beyond expectations condensed into a small body.
50mm F2 joins the "Premium Compact Prime" I series.
The SIGMA 50mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary features high optical performance with a bright F2 aperture, that creates expressive images with a shallow depth of field and beautiful bokeh effects. With its compact size, this popular classic focal length is perfect for portraits, street and everyday photography. The lens has been designed to be used over a long period of time. Using that same technology that SIGMA used to create the SIGMA CINE lens range, the 50mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary uses an all-metal construct that is robust and provides a premium feel.
All these elements combine to create an exceptionally versatile lens that can be used in a variety of creative ways to create images in outstanding definition. Perfectly suited to new photographers looking to take the next step, professionals who require reliable lenses and photographers who prefer smaller full-frame lenses that offer the best optical quality.
[Key Features]
1. "Standard lens" that matches the optical performance standards set by the SIGMA Contemporary line of lenses.
SIGMA I series lenses are developed around the concept of "compact everyday lenses with outstanding image quality" and the SIGMA 50mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary is exactly that. It features high-quality optics in a compact size, perfect for a wide variety of photographic styles. Built from the ground up for mirrorless cameras, the SIGMA 50mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary is constructed using a single SLD glass element and three aspherical lens elements that are excellent at correcting various types of aberration for clear, high-definition images.
The conflicting ideals of improving optical performance while reducing body size and weight are achieved through the latest optical design, and the processing and production technologies at SIGMA's only production facility in Aizu.
The 50mm focal length is mostly known for portrait photography, so careful consideration was taken when designing the lens, focusing on the smoothness of the bokeh created by the F2 aperture. Its optical design gives smooth transitions from in-focus to out-of-focus areas, and helps minimize flare and ghosting caused by backlit environments. The quiet stepping motor provides quick, reliable autofocusing for both stills and video.
2. Expanding the I series lineup. "Creating pictures that are beyond beautiful".
Headquarters: Asao-ku, Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa, Japan) is pleased to announce the SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens. Redefining the standard lens in SIGMA's DG DN lineup (DG = full-frame, DN = mirrorless-exclusive), the 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art expands the impressive line of fast F1.4 aperture primes with professional-level quality that the Art line is renowned for.
While further improving optical performance from the 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art, the new SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art achieves the ideal balance of the size, weight, and autofocus performance.

The highest level of expressive performance, high-speed AF, and compactness?all combined in perfection. The new standard for "Art F1.4" large-aperture standard prime.
Designed with a focus on sophisticated optical performance and tremendous expressive power, SIGMA’s Art line delivers high-level artistic quality. The newest addition to the F1.4 series, which has become synonymous with the Art line, is the SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art, a large-aperture standard lens designed exclusively for full-frame mirrorless cameras. While retaining the concept of the original SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art that defined the reputation of the Art F1.4 series, SIGMA has reexamined from the very beginning what is truly important in a standard lens used in a wide range of shooting situations. By incorporating all the latest technologies, this lens has achieved a high degree of compatibility between the optimum size and high-speed AF required for today's mirrorless systems, while maintaining the highest-class optical performance. In addition to the brightness of the large F1.4 aperture and the large, beautiful bokeh effect, various aberrations have been optimally balanced in pursuit of uniform and balanced image quality throughout the entire image range, from the center to the edges of the frame. The result is the new "Art F1.4 50mm," a lens that is truly all-around capable in terms of expressive performance, maneuverability, and usability, and is designed to help photographers create their best work. Introducing the 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art, SIGMA's ideal "standard" lens.
[Key Features]
1. The "Art F1.4" standard with uncompromising optical performance
Based on the latest optical design technology, the lens incorporates 14 elements in 11 groups, with 3 aspherical lenses and 1 SLD glass element. The lens effectively suppresses various aberrations such as astigmatism and field curvature, which cannot be corrected in-camera. Despite the large aperture of F1.4, the image performance on the periphery of the image has been optimized, and sagittal coma flare has been minimized to the extent that the lens can withstand even challenging star and night scenes, with demanding severe point light source imaging, from wide open. In addition to clear image quality with no color blur throughout the entire image circle, the large, natural bokeh beauty of F1.4 can be fully utilized in photography.
2. High-speed AF for nimble and comfortable shooting
The SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is the first in the Art line exclusively designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras to adopt the “HLA” linear motor (High-response Linear Actuator). In addition, by using a single double-sided aspheric lens as the focus element, the lens offers fast and quiet focusing and high tracking performance despite its large aperture. With a maximum aperture of 1.4 and a high-performance AF system, the lens can be used in a variety of situations, including shooting in dark places, shooting moving subjects, snapshots, and even video.
3. High performance, yet slim and compact
The development of the SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art was focused on slimming down the lens barrel by reducing the weight of a focus lens and optimizing the lens unit layout, to pursue the "optimum size" for mirrorless systems without compromising the "maximum emphasis on optical performance" concept of SIGMA’s Art line. SIGMA Introduces 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports Lens, the World's First and Only 10x Ultra-Telephoto Zoom for Mirrorless Camera Systems
Ronkonkoma, NY – January 12, 2023 – SIGMA Corporation of America, the US subsidiary of SIGMA Corporation (CEO: Kazuto Yamaki. Headquarters: Asao-ku, Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa, Japan) is pleased to announce the 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports lens. This is the world's first and only* mirrorless 10x ultra-telephoto zoom. The second full-frame mirrorless zoom lens in the SIGMA Sports line, covering standard (60mm) to ultra-telephoto (600mm), along with 1:2.4 maximum magnification (at 200mm), and weighing just 5.5 pounds (2.5kg), this lens offers exceptional versatility and is offered in Sony E-mount and L-Mount.
The SIGMA 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports is designed to be the one essential lens for travel, outdoor sports, wildlife, and safari that can cover it all from standard to ultra-tele, plus close-ups, all without ever swapping lenses; and it offers an impressive 6 stops of Optical Stabilization at the telephoto end and 7 stops at the standard end.
The newly designed HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) focusing motor delivers unprecedented fast and precise autofocusing, and dual action zoom allows for both the precision of the zoom ring and the swift, intuitive response of the push-pull action on the front end of the barrel. The three AFL buttons are easy to operate in any orientation, and the Zoom Lock switch can be locked at all marked focal distances.
The mount connection, manual focus ring, zoom ring, switches, switch panel and exterior connection are dust and splash resistant** to prevent dust and dirt from entering the lens, which are likely in the many outdoor situations where this lens is designed to perform.
A completely new optical design was created to for the DG DN (DG = full-frame, DN = mirrorless-exclusive) version of the 60-600mm featuring both SLD and FLD glass elements, and a multi-material structure is employed to balance durability and portability.
The SIGMA 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports will be offered for $1,999 through authorized SIGMA America retailers, and will be available beginning mid-February, 2023.

* As an interchangeable lens exclusively for mirrorless, as of December, 2022 by SIGMA
[Key Features]
1. The one and only 60-600mm zoom lens, able to handle every situation from standard to ultra-telephoto all by itself
The SIGMA 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports is an ultra-telephoto 10x zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras that covers a zoom range of 60-600mm, a range only available from SIGMA. It enables users to seamlessly capture scenes from close-ups to long distance shots without changing lenses, even in difficult situations such as air shows or professional sports events.
Stable and high optical performance throughout the entire zoom range
SIGMA employed the latest optical design to effectively correct chromatic aberrations that tend to occur in the ultra-telephoto range using a variety of high quality materials, including FLD and SLD glass elements. The lens is capable of capturing every moment with uncompromising high image quality in the unique focal length range of 60-600mm.
The minimum focusing distance is 45cm at the wide end, and at the focal length of 200mm, the lens offers a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.4, allowing users to also enjoy the lens as a telephoto macro lens, adding to its overall versatility.
High-speed AF owing to newly developed motor "HLA" to capture the decisive moment
The autofocus of the SIGMA 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports makes use of the newly developed linear motor "HLA (High-response Linear Actuator)". This high-output linear motor and advanced electronic control realize a quiet autofocus with unparalleled high speed and high precision. The new motor also enables high focus-following performance, ensuring that the decisive moment is not missed in sports photography and any other situation where the subjects are in motion, from motor vehicles to birds in flight.
Newly developed optical stabilizer algorithm "OS2" with high compensation capability of up to 7 stops
The OS (Optical Stabilizer) function employs SIGMA's newly developed algorithm "OS2". The new algorithm significantly improves image stabilization performance, with 7 stops at the wide end and 6 stops at the telephoto end. This allows the lens to capture powerful and dynamic moments with a rich sense of motion.
The lens is equipped with two OS modes: Mode 1 is suitable for general shooting, and Mode 2 is best suited for fast panning shots, for example in motorsports and other dynamic situations. In Mode 2, an acceleration sensor combined with SIGMA's Intelligent OS, an algorithm specially designed for panning shots, enable effective image stabilization even when the camera is moved vertically or diagonally, regardless of the horizontal and vertical orientation of the lens. This means that the movement of the subject can be expressed without losing the effect of panning shots.
Multi-material structure for lightweight and strong robustness
The lens features a multi-material structure, in which materials such as magnesium, CFRP*1, and TSC*2 are optimally arranged according to their characteristics. As a result, the lens barrel is lighter in weight while retaining the same robustness as previous models, thereby providing high versatility in a variety of scenes and applications.
*1 Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic, a light but strong material used in the interior and exterior fittings of aircraft, among many other applications.
*2 Thermally Stable Composite, a polycarbonate with a thermal expansion rate similar to that of aluminum. Its high affinity to metal parts contributes to high manufacturing quality standards.
Dual Action Zoom for intuitive framing
The lens supports Dual Action Zoom, allowing users to use both rotary zooming by rotating the zoom ring and straight zooming by grasping the tip of the lens. This enables both precise and quick operation in any given situation.
Dust and Splash Resistant Structure for security in various shooting situations
The mount connection, manual focus ring, zoom ring, switches, switch panel and exterior connection are all dust and splash resistant* to prevent dust and dirt from entering the lens. Further, the front element of the lens features a water and oil repellent coating to facilitate maintenance when water droplets or dust adhere to the lens.
* The structure is designed to be dust and splash resistant, but not waterproof. Be careful not to bring the lens in contact with a large amount of water. Water inside the lens may cause major damage and even render the lens unrepairable.
2. High customizability and build quality of SIGMA's Sports line
The SIGMA 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports is equipped with substantial features of SIGMA's Sports line standard of high-mobility, high-performance lenses. Manufactured in SIGMA's sole production base in Aizu, Japan, the lens features an exceptional build quality that combines robustness with practicality and a high level of precision in every single detail.
Interchangeable Tripod Socket
The lens body incorporates an Arca Swiss compatible magnesium alloy tripod socket. The leg can be removed and replaced with other interchangeable tripod sockets (sold separately) or attached to a monopod, allowing for a multitude of different uses and situations.
Tele Converter for L-Mount (1.4x / 2.0x)
The L-Mount version of the lens is compatible with the SIGMA TELE CONVERTER TC-1411 (1.4x) and TC-2011 (2.0x). Using a tele converter, the focal length can be multiplied by 1.4x and even 2x, for AF-enabled shooting at ultra-telephoto focal lengths of up to 1200mm.

[Key Features]
1. Highest optical performance on a new level
The SIGMA 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art delivers exceptionally detailed results that easily satisfy the high demands of professional photography and other high-end applications. With 17 glass elements arranged in 15 groups, including two SLD, three aspherical glass elements and the largest class double-sided aspherical glass element in SIGMA's history, the 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art rigorously suppresses various optical aberrations such as sagittal coma flare or image distortion to produce highly-detailed images with exceptional sharpness and accuracy from the center to the furthest corners, allowing photographers to make use of the entire field of view afforded by its ultra-wide viewing angle. This ultimate astrophotography lens is the culmination of the unparalleled manufacturing technology of SIGMA's sole production base in Aizu, Japan, as well as the company's know-how and experience with large-aperture wide-angle lenses, such as the SIGMA 20mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art, the SIGMA 14mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art and the SIGMA 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN | Art.
2. Designed for perfect results even in the most demanding conditions
SIGMA's outstanding design and high-precision manufacturing capabilities made it possible to equip the SIGMA 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art with a front filter thread despite its very large F1.4 aperture and 20mm ultra-wide viewing angle. The lens also comes with a rear filter holder, allowing photographers the freedom to combine multiple filters to suit a huge variety of shooting situations for near-unlimited creative potential at an ultra-wide viewing angle — for example, using a front filter to reduce light pollution and a softening filter on the rear to take impressive photographs of nightly landscapes with star-filled skies. The new MFL (Manual Focus Lock) switch to turn off the focus ring makes it easier to concentrate on the shoot without worrying about accidentally changing the focusing distance. Further, the lens also equips a lens heater retainer, meaning that lens heaters used to prevent internal condensation as the temperature drops on longer night shoots will stay securely attached to the barrel without protruding into the image and causing unsightly vignetting. With its brilliant optical power and its full range of useful features despite its compact and lightweight body, the SIGMA 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is the ultimate choice when photographing the night sky.
3. Superb build quality and usability, uncompromising attention to detail
Its dust- and splash-resistant structure*1 and the water- and oil-repellent coating on the front glass element make the SIGMA 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art safe to use during longer outdoor shoots, especially during the night. Thoughtful features such as a focus mode switch, a customizable AFL*2 button, and an aperture ring lock switch enhance the lens usability. Remarkably, the 20mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary is almost identical in size and weight to the very compact SIGMA 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary. A sleek, all-metal design, with a signature I series magnetic lens cap, a manual aperture ring and exceptional production quality means using this lens is a highly intuitive and satisfying experience, making the photo-taking process even more enjoyable. This sharp and beautifully built I series prime, the SIGMA 20mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary captures the essence of the I series, bringing a new level of user experience – the pleasure of owning and using a lens.
[Key Features]
1. I series | "Premium Compact Primes" for mirrorless users
2. New standards of optical performance for the Contemporary line
The 20mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary achieves the highest level of optical performance even at the widest aperture setting of F2 from the center of the image to the periphery. Based on the latest optical design technology, the lens construction includes three high-precision glass-molded aspherical lens elements, one SLD element, and one FLD element to suppress a range of optical aberrations. The result is clear and sharp images even in the extreme corners of the frame. By focusing on the suppression of sagittal coma flare, which is difficult to correct in post-processing, accurate reproduction of very bright points of light has been achieved. This also provides extremely detailed results across the entire image, especially important for night sky photography.
The lens' optical design, as well as its Super Multi-Layer Coating and Nano Porous Coating (NPC), ensures very minimal flare and ghosting even when shooting into bright light sources. This makes it much easier to photograph backlit subjects and still achieve punchy, high contrast results.
These high-precision components crafted with SIGMA's cutting-edge metalworking technology are also used in SIGMA's CINE LENS lineup for professional cinematographers and provide a tactile, ergonomic feel that make the lens a pleasure to use. The cover ring between the focus ring and the aperture ring has hairline processing that is also used for the rear cylinder of the Art line. This covering functions as a finger hold when attaching or detaching the lens.

Stunning versatility.
A large F2.8 aperture zoom lens that need never leave your camera This exceptionally small, light and bright standard zoom for crop-sensor mirrorless cameras is the ultimate workhorse lens. SIGMA’s first APS-C size mirrorless zoom lens has a versatile full-frame equivalent zoom range of 27-75mm, which makes it ideal for a wide range of photo and video applications including landscapes, portraits, street photography, architecture and events. It can also be used for macro-style close-up photography owing to its maximum magnification of 1:2.8*1, which allows a minimum focusing distance of just 12.1cm. In terms of its bright F2.8 aperture, it makes for easier hand-held low-light shooting and provides a shallow depth-of-field for high-impact results.
Autofocus is exceptionally fast and quiet thanks to the stepping motor, which can be particularly useful when shooting video, or fast-moving subjects such as children and animals. The lens’ exceptionally small and light form factor that weighs less than 300g makes it perfect as a first interchangeable lens, and as a sub-lens for full-frame bodies*2, as well as for various shooting situations.

See the bigger picture.
KEY FEATURES:
The all-new SIGMA 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary delivers exceptional edge-to-edge rendering power in an ultra-compact, all-metal body. This impressive, wide-angle, I series prime is now available for L-Mount and Sony E-mount systems.
The 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary premium compact prime is the latest prime lens to be added to SIGMA's growing I series range. It joins four existing I series lenses as well as the new 90mm F2.8, offering superb optical performance, a bright F2 aperture, an all-metal build and a manual aperture ring. Designed from the ground up for mirrorless systems it feels perfectly-balanced on modern full-frame bodies, and boasts exceptional resolving power that can keep up with the latest ultra-high-resolution cameras.
The lens' advanced optical design produces sharp, high-contrast results from the center of the frame to the far corners, and together with its F2 aperture and wide angle-of-view, it's an excellent choice for night sky photography, events and interiors. Owing to its compact size, the lens can be carried around effortlessly, which makes it perfect for day-to-day use. The high quality, all-metal construction – which is found on all of SIGMA's I series models – makes the experience of owning and operating this lens extremely satisfying.
This new full-frame 24mm F2 prime is designed for photographers who need a sharp, fast, robust, wide-angle optic that will not weigh them down. It is available for L-Mount and Sony E-mount systems.
I series | Premium Compact Primes for mirrorless users
The SIGMA I series features full-frame-compatible lenses that offer mirrorless users a new and better alternative, both in the experience of shooting with the lens and in the impressive results it is able to achieve.
One of the key advantages of mirrorless cameras is their smaller form-factor, and this new SIGMA 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary optic is designed to be perfectly matched to these more compact systems without sacrificing performance. This combination of superb optical quality with exceptional portability, not previously possible with DSLR systems, will bring new opportunities to this and future generations of photographers.
Simultaneously, SIGMA is aware that, in this day and age when we have such huge diversity when it comes to what we use to photograph, as represented by smartphones, people look for something more than a mere act of "taking pictures" when they choose to own a camera and lenses.
SIGMA's excellence in development and processing technologies has been built up since it was founded in 1961, and has become further sophisticated with the introduction of the SIGMA Global Vision in 2012. With this as a base SIGMA has given careful thought to how photographers use and enjoy their lenses, including optical design, advanced functionality, build quality and the experience of picking up and using the lens, and with all of this carefully considered the I series was born.
New standards of optical performance for the Contemporary line
The SIGMA 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary, like the SIGMA 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary and the SIGMA 65mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary, combines the highest level of optical performance even at its maximum aperture of F2 and a well-balanced body.
The lens uses two SLD glass elements and one FLD glass element to correct axial chromatic aberration, which is a particular concern with bright lenses. It also incorporates two high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements, made possible by the processing technology of SIGMA's sole production facility in Aizu. This has enabled the total number of lens elements to be kept down and the size and weight of the lens to be reduced, while providing excellent correction of various aberrations.
In anticipation of wide-angle lens applications, SIGMA's optical designers have ensured the lens resolution is extremely high, and is uniform from the center to the periphery of the image. Sagittal coma flare is also well suppressed, giving the lens a high degree of rendering power that makes it ideal for night sky photography.
The AF drive system incorporates a quiet, high-speed stepping motor. This allows photographers to capture every detail of the spacious 24mm scene with light AF.
The cover ring between the focus ring and the aperture ring has hairline processing that is also used for the rear cylinder of the Art line. This covering functions as a finger hold when attaching or detaching the lens.

This high-quality, everyday lens is able to bring scenes to life with its beautiful rendering and ultra-sharp optics, all in a portable, robust and tactile lens body.
I series | Premium Compact Primes for mirrorless users
The SIGMA I series features full-frame-compatible lenses that offer mirrorless users a new and better alternative, both in the experience of shooting with the lens and in the impressive results it is able to achieve.
One of the key advantages of mirrorless cameras is their smaller form-factor, and this new SIGMA 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary optic is designed to be perfectly matched to these more compact systems without sacrificing performance.
The SIGMA 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary boasts exceptional optical performance with a ultra-high resolving power to match the latest high-resolution mirrorless cameras.
The lens is built using the very latest optical technology, and includes five SLD glass elements. This helps to reduce axial chromatic aberration that cannot be corrected in-camera, allowing the lens to achieve high resolution and clear image quality with no color bleeding. A high-precision glass molded aspherical lens provides both high resolution and beautiful bokeh. Photographers can enjoy shooting with soft, large bokeh without coloration and this is something that only a full-frame lens is able to deliver.
The lens also utilizes the camera's optical correction functionality, which is an advantage of mirrorless systems, SIGMA's optical designers were therefore able to concentrate on correcting aberrations that can only be corrected by the optical design, thereby improving rendering performance and reducing the size and weight of the lens.
With a minimum focusing distance of 50cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5, close-up macro-style photography is possible. The lens highlights the subject, allowing photographers to focus in on fine details or create more abstract compositions.
The AF drive system incorporates a quiet, high-speed stepping motor, making it suitable for still images as well as video recording.
The 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary shares the same 64mm maximum diameter and 55mm filter size as the 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary and the 45mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary, making them a natural trio, especially for filmmakers who use filters more regularly. With a combined weight of only 735g / 25.9 oz.*, these three lenses (wide-angle, standard, mid-telephoto) can be used together as part of a high-spec and compact camera system that covers a wide range of shooting situations.

Superb optical performance and usability power up the most popular focal length.
An "Art F1.4 35mm" reborn for mirrorless and empowered through SIGMA's technology to date.
The existing 35mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art was SIGMA’s first GLOBAL VISION lens. Released in 2012, it set the standard for all of SIGMA’s subsequent Art-line lenses, and thanks to its exceptional image quality it is still the 35mm prime lens of choice for many professional photographers. Nine years on, the 35mm F1.4 has been redesigned from the ground up specifically for mirrorless cameras, and is the culmination of much of the optical design expertise and advanced production techniques gained over the past decade of GLOBAL VISION lens development. As with all of SIGMA’s lenses, the 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is built entirely at its sole factory in Aizu in Japan, where the standard of craftsmanship is of the highest level.
As is true with all SIGMA lenses, class-leading optics are right at the heart of the design concept of this new 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art. Despite being significantly smaller and lighter than the existing 35mm F1.4, it displays an outstanding level of sharpness right to the edges of the frame at all apertures, as well as exceptionally smooth and attractive bokeh and remarkably well-controlled optical aberrations.
Designed exclusively for use with mirrorless cameras, the 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is light enough to feel perfectly balanced on a compact mirrorless camera, yet is packed with an array of professional features including ultra-fast AF, a de-clickable and lockable aperture ring and a customizable AFL button. This gives the lens operability and portability without compromise, making it as ideal for professional projects as it is for casual outings, and as well-suited to video as it is stills.
SIGMA is delighted to introduce you to the new gold standard in wide-aperture 35mm primes.
Key features
1. Exceptional optical performance
Central to the design of the 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is its sophisticated optical performance, which is consistent with the development of all Art line lenses. The lens incorporates 15 elements in 11 groups. With two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements, an Extraordinary Low Dispersion (ELD) element, an ‘F’ Low Dispersion (FLD) element and two aspherical elements, and as well as other high-performance glass, the lens’ advanced optical construction utilizes SIGMA’s state-of-the-art optical design technology, minimizing all types of aberration including axial chromatic aberration, which cannot be corrected in-camera.
In spite of having a very wide aperture of F1.4, the lens is able to control sagittal coma flare extremely well even wide open, stopping bright points of light from flaring out near the edges of the frame. This will be particularly appealing to night sky photographers.
Owing to its 11 rounded diaphragm blades, the lens displays smooth, round bokeh so that out-of-focus areas are not distracting. This makes the 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art well-suited to portraits, supported by its ultra-sharp image quality and minimal color bleeding. It also performs very well in backlit conditions thanks to SIGMA's anti-ghosting and anti-flare technology that it has cultivated through countless simulations and real-life testing in our many years of lens development. This keeps shots high contrast and free of excessive flare even when working in difficult light.
2. Fast and quiet AF in a compact body
The focusing mechanism in the SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art features a stepping motor. This motor controls a focusing lens group composed of a single, lightweight element, which means AF is responsive and quiet, and is able to keep track of moving objects very effectively. Manual focusing is smooth and precise, but with the right amount of resistance for film-makers. Certainly, this lens has a focus mode switch on the body.
The SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art wholly embraces the Art line concept, which is “designed with a focus on sophisticated optical performance”. This—paired with its advanced autofocus performance and the convenience of a compact size—makes for a lens that raises the standards.
3. Professional feature-set
On the body of the SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is an aperture ring that allows aperture to be controlled via the lens, or when set to Auto, using the camera. An aperture lock switch on the lens body allows the aperture ring to be locked in Auto so that it’s not accidentally knocked during shooting. A big plus for film-makers, the aperture ring can be de-clicked, allowing users to seamlessly adjust exposure. Also on the lens barrel is a focus mode switch and an AFL button, which can be customized to a desired function from within the camera menu (depending on the model). The switch is ergonomically positioned to be controlled by the thumb during use.
A petal type lens hood is included in the box, which helps reduce flare and offers the lens added protection if dropped. The hood has a lock mechanism that keeps it attached securely to the lens, and its rubberized grip makes it quick and easy to attach and remove.
On top of this impressive array of features and elegant exterior, the body of the 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art offers an exceptional level of durability that helps it withstand long-term professional use as well as individual operating parts that give a good fit to the hand. The dust and splash proof structure provides sealing on buttons and along joins between constituent parts, and there’s a rubber gasket around the mount. There’s also a water and oil repellent coating applied to the front element ensures that photographers can rely on it in any conditions.

Operating conditions of SIGMA's lenses for Canon EF mount with the Canon EOS R6
Thank you for purchasing and using our products.
We would like to share the results of our investigation regarding the operation of SIGMA’s lenses for Canon EF mount, when used on the Canon EOS R6.
We have verified the operation with our SIGMA GLOBAL VISION (SGV) interchangeable lenses (Contemporary, Art, and Sports lines) for Canon EF mounts used on the “Canon EOS R6” with Canon’s mount adapter “EF-EOS R Series”, and confirmed that there were no problems with general operations such as AE, AF, and image stabilization.
Please note the following points when using our products.
1. For SGV interchangeable lenses released before 2017*, it is necessary that the lens firmware is updated to Ver.2.00 or later. * The release year can be confirmed by the edition number (A017, C015, etc.) engraved on the lens barrel.
Please refer to the following page for details of the lens firmware.
2. After setting the Digital Lens Optimizer to [OFF], set the “Peripheral Illumination Correction”, “Chromatic Aberration Correction”, and “Distortion Correction” of the “Lens Aberration Correction” function to [ON] to achieve the appropriate corrections in accordance with the optical characteristics of each lens.
3. AF can be used within the area of approximately 80% of the height and 80% of the width of the sensor surface.
4. For lenses without an OS (Optical Stabilizer) mechanism, the in-camera image stabilization can not be used when the Full-time MF setting is set to “Full- time MF ON” via SIGMA Optimization Pro. When using in-camera image stabilization, please set the Full-time MF setting to “Full- time MF OFF”. * The default Full- time MF setting is “Full- time MF OFF”.
5. Image stabilization does not work optimally with interchangeable lenses which are not from the Contemporary, Art or Sports line. Please turn off the camera’s Image stabilization setting, or turn off the OS switch for lenses equipped with an OS (Optical Stabilizer) mechanism when using.
6. For interchangeable lenses which are not from the Contemporary, Art or Sports lines, using MF is recommended, since it may be difficult to achieve sufficient focusing speed and accuracy when AF is used.
7. It can not be used with the teleconverter.
For further information, please contact your nearest authorized SIGMA subsidiary / distributor.
We appreciate your continued support for our company and products.

SIGMA sets a new standard in large-aperture mirrorless zoom lenses
The SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary redefines the standard zoom for mirrorless cameras by combining outstanding optical performance, an F2.8 constant aperture, and a lightweight and compact body. The design of the 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary is based on the existing 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, but with a focal range starting at 28mm, making the lens body significantly smaller and lighter while maintaining superb optical performance. It is the smallest and lightest lens in its class*. Remaining true to the Contemporary line's core concept of maintaining an optimal balance between optical performance and lens size, this new optic delivers professional quality results in a body small enough to take on a casual outing.
In addition to prioritizing portability, SIGMA’s optical engineers introduced a new combination of coatings and structural elements that make this standard zoom well-equipped for use in a wide range of shooting environments. Likewise, the latest production and manufacturing techniques were employed to ensure exceptionally high build quality.
The 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary introduces another fast, high-performance, large-aperture zoom lens to SIGMA’s mirrorless line-up, offering a more compact alternative to the existing 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art.
* As a standard zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras with F2.8 brightness throughout the zoom range (Source: SIGMA, as of February 2021)
[Key features]
Design based on SIGMA’s Art line, with the same uncompromising optical performance
The optical design of the SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary is based on the 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, which is renowned for its outstanding optical performance throughout its zoom range. True to the Contemporary line's core concept, the 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary was developed to offer the right balance of performance and portability, and as such, this large-aperture standard zoom delivers outstanding image quality that rivals Art line lenses in a body light enough for day-to-day use. Building on state-of-the-art technology, the 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary has an advanced optical design that includes three aspherical, two FLD, and two SLD elements. Despite using fewer elements in total than the 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, the design results in a thorough correction of axial chromatic aberration and sagittal coma aberration, which cannot be corrected in-camera, allowing users to create images that are uniformly sharp from the center to the edges of the frame. Along with its anti-ghosting design, the use of Super Multi-Layer Coating and Nano Porous Coating means well-controlled flare for high-contrast results in backlit conditions. It also features a water and oil repellant coating on the front side of the lens.
In short, the SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary combines all of the key optical features required of a large-aperture standard zoom lens, which are essential for photographing a wide variety of subjects in a range of shooting conditions.
·Comparison of the two optimal solutions to standard zoom lenses with F2.8 brightness throughout the zoom range.
With the addition of the new 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary, SIGMA now provides two optimal solutions of standard F2.8 zoom lens for mirrorless cameras ? the new 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary achieves remarkable portability and offers the same optical performance, as the existing 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art which is for pro-use with the highest levels of performance throughout its focal range.

A lightweight and compact body – ideal for day-to-day use
Being slightly less wide-angle than the 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art has allowed a significant reduction in the size of the 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary lens body. In order to fit with the design concept of the Contemporary line, which balances performance with portability, the new lens features a simpler dust- and splash-proof structure and smaller switches. This makes it the smallest and lightest lens in its class*.
The new lens features just one lightweight focusing element, which keeps the AF unit small. This, along with a quiet and fast stepping motor, makes for responsive and near-silent autofocus performance.
The 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary weighs in at 470g, and when attached to the SIGMA fp, the entire setup is 890g. The supreme portability afforded by a camera system that weighs less than 1kg gives photographers a huge amount of freedom and flexibility to achieve their creative vision. It’s also a perfect combination for filmmakers looking for a high-performance, lightweight, easy-to-handle camera system that works well with a gimbal and other accessories.
A large-aperture, standard zoom lens that is light and small enough for casual outings, the 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary will open up new photographic possibilities for better and more creative results.

Superb build quality with exceptional attention to detail that provides an exceptional user experience
With priority given to optimal portability, the body of the SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary consists primarily of lightweight parts. While conventional wisdom states that it is more difficult to ensure processing accuracy for plastic parts than metal parts, there has been no compromise whatsoever on build quality for the 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary. One reason for this is that it uses a type of polycarbonate called TSC (Thermally Stable Composite), which has a comparable level of thermal shrinkage to aluminum. This helps reduce differences between the thermal shrinkage of the metal and non-metal parts, ensuring stable levels of performance even in an environment with extreme temperature changes. The use of polycarbonates in the construction of zoom and focus rings can make their operation feel less premium, but with careful treatment to the precision of these parts and adjusting the movement with the lubricant appropriately, the rings offer a precise action with an exceptionally high-quality feel.
What allows us to achieve these precisely produced parts and such premium aesthetics is the impressive standard of manufacturing technology and rigorous quality control we have at the SIGMA Aizu Factory.
The SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary offers a new and improved photographic experience for mirrorless users who require a fast aperture standard zoom lens. Its premium, intuitive build makes it as exciting to use the lens as it is to see the incredible images it can produce, inspiring you to start achieving your creative potential.

Performance exceeds expectations
SIGMA Art line introduces a supreme edition to classic macro lenses
Mid-telephoto macro lenses give photographers a boost to creativity and a versatile working distance, which makes the lenses a favorite among professionals as part of their basic gear. Introduced as the first macro lens for mirrorless cameras in the Art line of lenses for mirrorless cameras, the 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art packs the highest level of performance expected of a mid-telephoto macro lens into its body, from its superb optical performance to excellent build quality.
Beyond being a high-spec macro lens that excels in a wide range of settings, the SIGMA 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art is ideal for macro shooting or portraits. It can also give photographers an opportunity to rediscover a new way of looking at or enjoying things such as unexpected beauty or something precious in everyday life through its perspective that is unique to a macro lens. It provides performance that goes far beyond the expectation or imagination of what a "classic mid-telephoto macro lens" can be.
[Key features]
1. Everything required in a mid-telephoto macro lens has been achieved at highest levels
The latest optical design of the 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art ensures exceptional sharpness at all shooting distances from extreme close-up, which is crucial in macro shooting, all the way up to infinity. In addition, its aberration correction places a particular focus on longitudinal chromatic aberration which cannot be handled by the in-camera aberration correction. The superior optical design produces clear images with both delicate rendering and free of color bleeding.
Bokeh was one of the focuses in the 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art design, which figures largely in mid-telephoto shooting. The ample volume of peripheral light helps create beautiful bokeh circles, while natural bokeh effect in the background, as well as foreground, gives more flexibility to photographic expressions. Furthermore, when equipped with the TC-1411 (1.4x) or TC-2011 (2.0x), SIGMA's latest models of teleconverters designed exclusively for the use with L-Mount lenses, it allows photographers to shoot macro at even higher macro magnifications while keeping the working distance.
The 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art has achieved everything that is required of a mid-telephoto macro lens at the highest levels.
2. SIGMA Art line class optical and AF performance
The SIGMA Art line lenses prioritize optical performance above all else in their design. This applies to the 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art, which produces outstanding rendering performance from the center of the frame all the way up to the edges. It excellently handles comatic aberration, which often happens at the edges. On the other hand, its abilities to minimize ghosting and flare, which have been validated through rigorous testing from the early stages of its development, ensures that it performs well in backlit conditions.
On top of optimization for the latest functionalities, such as face/eye detection AF, which is something mirrorless camera systems do well, it incorporates a powerful Hyper-Sonic Motor (HSM) in its focus motor system to achieve high-precision, quiet AF operation.
All of these elements are brought to life using advanced production technology at the Aizu Factory, SIGMA's only production site, giving the 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art the highest levels of performance worthy of the SIGMA Art line.
3. A full range of functionalities and an excellent build quality
On its body, the 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art features a focus limiter setting which comes in handy during macro shooting and the AFL button* to which users may assign select functions. The aperture ring, which is designed to help users work intuitively, has a setting to turn ON or OFF the clicking sound that isn’t required by some users when shooting macro. It also comes with a switch for a ring lock system. Its enhanced functions allow users to customize their shooting operations in accordance with their shooting styles.
The lens also has a dust- and splash-proof structure which is built to handle all manner of shooting conditions. The rings and switches, meanwhile, have a build quality that is superb in terms of durability, as well as how they work and how they feel.
With levels of user-friendliness, adaptability to the environment, and smoothness of operation that are designed for professional uses, the 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art pushes the boundaries for photographers and gives them wider creative possibilities.
*Limited to compatible cameras. Also, the functions depend on the camera.

Operating conditions of SIGMA’s lenses for Canon EF mount with the Canon EOS R5
Thank you for purchasing and using our products.
We would like to share the results of our investigation regarding the operation of SIGMA’s lenses for Canon EF mount, when used on the Canon EOS R5.
We have verified the operation with our SIGMA GLOBAL VISION (SGV) interchangeable lenses (Contemporary, Art, and Sports lines) for Canon EF mounts used on the“Canon EOS R5” with Canon’s mount adapter “EF-EOS R Series”, and confirmed that there were no problems with general operations such as AE, AF, and image stabilization.
Please note the following points when using our products.
1. For SGV interchangeable lenses released before 2017* , it is necessary that the lens firmware is updated to Ver.2.00 or later. * The release year can be confirmed by the edition number (A017, C015, etc.) engraved on the lens barrel.
Please refer to the following page for details of the lens firmware. https://www.sigma-global.com/en/download/lenses/firmware/
We appreciate your continued support for our company and products.

Sigma Announces the 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art Lens
The Definitive Portrait Prime for the Mirrorless Age
Ronkonkoma, NY - August 6, 2020 - Redefining the portrait lens category, the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens is a completely new design for full-frame mirrorless cameras, as the "DN" designation indicates. Announced today by Sigma Corporation, this is a complete reinvention of the definitive fast-aperture portrait prime that pairs class-leading optical performance with a compact, dust-and splash-proof design. Offered in both L-Mount and Sony E-Mount, this lens features a completely new optical formula that includes five Special Low Dispersion Elements and one aspherical element for exceptional edge-to-edge image sharpness. This new optical formula also thoroughly corrects aberrations, resulting in visually pleasing images with no color bleed, even at maximum aperture. Plus, the 11-blade rounded diaphragm ensures smooth, attractive bokeh. The 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens is handcrafted to the most exacting optical and mechanical tolerances in Sigma's Aizu, Japan production facility.
"Briefly put, the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art pairs large-aperture, professional-caliber optical performance with a lightweight, sturdy, and compact body, a combination which has long been difficult to achieve," reports Mark Amir-Hamzeh, President of Sigma Corporation of America. "This vision is finally realized with the new 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens."
A smaller focusing lens is paired with the stepping motor, which is optimized for both phase detection and contrast detection autofocus, allowing for this lens to be notably smaller than the 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art lens — over an inch shorter and more than a pound lighter than the previous version — while achieving a higher degree of edge-to-edge sharpness from F1.4 and through the entire aperture range.
The Sigma Art line has been consistently redefining both imaging excellence and pleasing in-the-hand experience, and this new lens continues that legacy. Dust and splash-proof design, aluminum and TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) construction, a brass bayonet, plus well-damped switches and rings demonstrate the level of build quality that the Art name represents. Additional benefits include an aperture ring that allows for clicked and de-clicked operation, a programmable AFL button on the lens barrel, and a new Iris Ring Lock Switch that prevents unintended movement of the aperture ring during image capture.
This combination of imaging characteristics, build quality, and compact size for its focal length and aperture combine to make this the class-defining portrait lens for full-frame mirrorless camera systems.

Its superior image quality and compact size make it an excellent companion lens to the previously released full-frame mirrorless zooms from Sigma, the 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art and 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art. It will be available in Sony E-mount and L-mount.
The fifth Sigma lens designed specifically for full-frame mirrorless camera systems, the 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary further expands the possibilities of mirrorless camera photography. Thanks to the stepping motor system that is optimized for both phase detection AF and contrast AF, the Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary makes shooting video with eye-tracking AF very smooth. It consistently achieves high levels of optical performance and makes the most of its capabilities as a zoom lens at every focal length from wide to close-up shots to telephoto photography.
When paired with the new Sigma Teleconverter TC-1411 and/or TC-2011 (sold separately / for L-Mount only), which were exclusively developed for the use with mirrorless cameras, the Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary gives photographers a "super telephoto" range with a focal length of up to 800mm while still benefiting from a compact lens and effective AF. It functions as a 140-560mm F7-9 AF ultra-telephoto lens with the Sigma Teleconverter TC-1411, and as a 200-800mm F10-12.6 AF ultra-telephoto lens with the Sigma Teleconverter TC-2011.
The Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary will be available on July 10, 2020 for $949.00 USD.
Sigma USB Dock UD-11 - Easily Update Lens Firmware and Customize Settings
Designed exclusively for Sigma L-Mount and Canon EF-M Mount mirrorless lenses, the Sigma USB Dock UD-11 allows users to update firmware and customize settings on lenses in these lineups.
In addition to firmware updates, users can adjust the sensitivity of MF function* speed. It employs the new USB Type-C connection.
*Scope of adjustment varies depending on specifications of the individual product.
The Sigma USB Dock UD-11 will be available on July 10, 2020 for $59.00 USD.
Sigma Mirrorless Teleconverter TC-1411 and TC-2011
The Sigma Teleconverter TC-1411 and TC-2011 are designed exclusively for use with Sigma L-mount mirrorless lenses. Mounted between a lens and the camera body, the TC-1411 magnifies the focal length of the camera by 1.4x, and the TC-2011 by 2x. Designed to complement Sigma’s renowned optical formulas, these teleconverters preserve the image quality of the lens while extending the focal length for added zoom capability.
The new teleconverters have a dust- and splash-proof construction comparable to that of the Sigma Sports line lenses, and can withstand harsh outdoor shooting environments when combined with a dust- and splash-proof camera body and lens. Lightweight and compact, these accessories will upgrade lens performance to an "ultra telephoto" focal length without the need for additional lenses.
The Sigma Teleconverter TC-1411 and TC-2011 will be available on July 10, 2020 for $399.00 USD (TC-1411) and $429.00 USD (TC-2011).

From Sigma:
The SIGMA Corporation is pleased to announce the launch schedule of “FF Classic Prime Line” , a new series in the SIGMA CINE LENS.
FF High Speed Prime Line has been offering the highest resolving power in its class, that is compatible with 8K shooting with large format sensors, while achieving outstanding compact design. Based on this product line, the FF Classic Prime Line incorporates more non-coated optical elements to achieve unrivaled expression. It retains the high resolution capability that SIGMA CINE LENS is well known for, and offers a unique combination of low contrast and artistic flare/ghost in the image. As with all other lenses from the FF High Speed Prime Line, it creates beautiful bokeh effects to improve creativity.
FF Classic Prime Line has implemented newly developed coatings on the glass elements and offers consistent T value across the lineup (14mm and 135mm at T3.2 and the rest of the lenses at T2.5). This will greatly contribute to the effective workflow in post production. Furthermore, it is compatible with the communication protocol of Cooke “/i Technology”, thus an ideal tool for shooting and editing with the latest technology, such as VFX. A special coating is implemented on the front and rear elements so that the lens durability is ensured as with all other cine lenses from SIGMA.
“Classic Art Prime” is a new solution from SIGMA that is required for the most advanced technology for classical expression. The “look” that FF Classic Prime Line can offer will enable cinematographers to explore new possibilities in movie creation.
* From conventional cine lenses, it is not possible to apply for the Mount Conversion Service for this “FF Classic Prime Line”.
