Setting a password when starting up the camera after firmware update

Thank you for your continued patronage of Canon products. We would like to inform you that, in response to European cybersecurity regulations, a password setting function has been added to some of our camera products to protect personal information and security within the camera.

* The firmware including this improved function is scheduled to be released on July 17th.

How to set a startup password

The password setting screen will be displayed when you start up the camera for the first time or after updating the firmware. Follow the steps below to set a password.

1. Enter a 6-digit number to set a password, and then press the <MENU> button.

2. Select [OK]

3. Enter your password again

Select [OK] to set the password.

When you turn on the camera or when it recovers from auto power off, the [Password] screen will be displayed. Enter the password you set.

If you check "Don't ask again," this screen will not be displayed next time.
