Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 AW Camera Backpack Review
The Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 AW is ideally suited to carry one large lens (up to a
Canon EF 600mm f/4 L IS)
attached to a camera body.
It is a high quality, well padded medium-weight case that does not cost a fortune.
Upon opening the Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 AW, you will find a Velcro-attached shelf (see pic above).
I removed as it obstructed lens entry to/exit from the case.
The next obvious feature is the large U-shaped pad that travels out with the lid.
This pad is Velcro-height-adjustable and matches to a similar also-height-adjustable pad in the backpack to stabilize a long lens.
Small Velcro tabs hook the two pads together.
The only additional interior feature (other than good quality material and padding of course) is a thick, removable
square of padding at the bottom of the backpack to stabilize a narrower lens.
This pad must be removed for a
Canon EF 500mm f/4 L IS Lens
to be carried.
Additional Lowepro SlipLock-attaching pouches and cases (such as a Lens Case)
can be added to the many side and belt SlipLock loops.
The rear pouch is zipper-closed and features an additional zipper pouch on the lid and a Velcro-closed pocket inside.
The rain cover ("AW" part of the name) stores in the bottom zippered compartment on the rear pouch.
An included tripod foot holder and tripod clips allow a tripod to be mounted on either side of this camera backpack.
Like Lowepro's other Trekker AW Series Camera Backpacks,
the Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 AW features the Pack Jack adjusting shoulder harness system.
Shaped like a large, flat arrow, the thin, stiff plastic Pack Jack slides down behind
the shoulder strap harness to release the Velcro that holds it in place.
Adjust the shoulder harness to your preferred ride height and slide the Pack Jack out.
The Velcro again takes solid hold and the Pack Jack stows out of the way behind the shoulder harness (or removed completely).
You are left with a pack customized for your back.
Adjustments on the shoulder strap, sternum strap and the belt complete a customized-to-you fit.
Thick padding cushions the pack against your back to round out the comfort package.
A small hand strap is included.
