A hiker stands on a boulder overlooking Amphitheatre Lake and the Grand Teton Mountain peak. The Amphitheatre Lake trail is about a 6-8 hour round trip hike. The trail is well maintained and not hard to walk. The length of the trail is the hard part. Well-broken-in shoes are mandatory. After endless switchbacks, the hiker is greeted with spectacular views of the Grand Teton peak. Surprise and Amphitheatre Lakes are located at the end of this trail. Pikas (very fun little animals) and ground squirrels are abundant in the rocks surrounding the lakes.
