Lowepro unveils an ultra-lightweight, high-performance backpack design, purpose built for adventure-sport athletes who like to go fast and light with their essentials and camera gear.

(Petaluma, CA, May 1, 2011) – Lowepro, the leading brand of protective gear for photography equipment and portable electronic devices, launches its Photo Sport AW series of dual-compartment camera backpacks. The series is specifically designed for adventure-sport athletes who are equally passionate about their athletic and photographic pursuits.
"Our new Photo Sport AW backpacks are ideal for people who like to mountain bike, trail run, snowboard and take photos while they enjoy the great outdoors," said Treg Tyler, Lowepro worldwide director of marketing. "We think adventure-sport athletes will appreciate the light weight, innovative design details and freedom these backpacks offer," he added.
The series consists of two styles: the Photo Sport 200 AW backpack and the Photo Sport Sling 100 AW. Both feature adventure-pack construction with ultra-lightweight, resilient and high-performance technical fabrics that provide improved durability during extreme activities.
The lower compartment of each pack includes Lowepro's patent-pending Ultra-Cinch Camera Chamber™ to protect camera gear in a padded and secure compartment and help prevent bouncing while an athlete-photographer is in motion. A zippered, side-access pocket allows the wearer to quickly rotate the pack to the front, unzip, un-cinch and access his or her camera to capture an ideal vista or moment.
The toploading upper compartment mimics the function of a classic pack. Roomy and flexible storage space—13.9 liters in the 200 AW backpack and 9 liters in the Sling 100 AW—allows the wearer to easily access a host of creature comforts like a jacket, lunch or snack, hat, cell phone, guide books, etc. A zippered pocket on the top lid provides a convenient spot for a pair of sunglasses or other small personal items.
Multiple attachment points in the form of bottom compression straps, trekking/ski pole loops and extra webbing offer a variety of ways to expand the carrying capacity and/or customize the pack for specific outdoor activities.
Additional features of both packs include details that offer comfort and protection when out for a run, bike, hike or other adventure-sports activity. A molded airflow backpad provides breathability and cushioned support. Multiple adjustment points offer a custom fit. And reflective piping along the front panel offers visibility to the wearer in foggy, rainy, snowy and dark conditions. Lowepro's patented, built-in All Weather AW Cover™ protects camera and personal gear from the elements and is easy to tuck into a discreet pocket when not in use.
Distinctive features of the Photo Sport 200 AW are: a dedicated hydration pocket with a port (hydration reservoir not included); zippered waistbelt pockets; sternum strap with built-in safety whistle; and an aluminum stay for extra support and to help keep extra weight off the back.
The Photo Sport Sling 100 AW has multiple adjustment points along the crossover strap and offers a smaller-scaled option—it weighs less than two pounds empty—for women or more extreme activities.
The Photo Sport 200 AW and Photo Sport Sling 100 AW are available in Black/Light Grey and Lowepro Orange/Light Grey. For more information on this series and other products, please contact Lowepro or visit www.lowepro.com.
