From Nikon:

WR-1 Firmware v.1.01

If you are using the WR-1 with a WR-R10, have a Nikon-authorized service representative update the WR-R10 to firmware version 3.00.

Wireless Remote Controller WR-R10 Firmware v.3.00

Firmware Ver. 3.00 upgrade details

Shooting using radio-controlled advanced wireless lighting (hereafter "radio AWL") requires a digital SLR camera and Speedlight that support radio AWL, as well as a WR-R10. However, WR-R10s running a version of firmware prior to Ver. 3.00 do not support radio AWL. The modifications indicated below, including support for radio AWL, will be enabled with this firmware upgrade.

Modifications enabled with firmware Ver. 3.00

  • Support for radio AWL has been added.
  • Support for the D5 and D500 function that enables Link Mode (Pairing or PIN) for radio AWL has been added.
  • Support for the D5 and D500 function that enables or disables the status LEDs on the WR-R10 has been added.
  • The maximum number of devices with which the WR-R10 can be paired has been changed from 64 devices to 32.
