Impress Your Clients: Add Personal Flair to Your Delivered Images

Over the years I've delivered countless photos to clients via CD, DVD, flash drive as well as cloud storage (DropBox, Copy) – but rarely have I delivered prints. For all of those methods outside of prints, delivery of digital images can seem like a sterile and impersonal process.

One way I combat this perception is to deliver CDs/DVDs that feature Lightscribe labeling. I prefer Lightscribe to printed labels because they are more durable and eye-catching. As the label is actually burned into the disk, it can't get smudged. And the label has a wonderful luminescent, almost holographic look to it. My clients love their custom Lightscribe discs.

After having shot a few wedding this past summer (not something I normally do), I realized that a flash drive was the easiest method of delivery for 1000s of full-resolution images. But handing over a flash drive is unexciting and impersonal, to say the least. I wanted to find a way to provide a small "wow" factor when delivering flash drives.

A few weeks ago I ran across a wonderful product – a Custom Made Wax Seal Stamp. In our modern, digital age, a wax seal looked like the wonderfully elegant and timeless solution I was looking for.

I created a 3 cm, 800 dpi template in Photoshop and designed a black and white (not greyscale) logo to be used on the wax seal. Here's what I came up with:

Sean Setters Photography Wax Seal

The total after shipping was around $27.00. Not cheap, but not unreasonable for a custom manufactured product. The seal stamp would arrive a couple of weeks later.

In the meantime, I looked for various seal waxes I could use with my seal stamp. There are definitely inexpensive options available, but I decided to try out the more convenient Glue Gun Sealing Wax Sticks. They're more expensive, but in my opinion, the convenience is worth the extra cost.

I put together a sample delivery box after receiving my seal stamp and wax (shown atop this post). Final impressions? I love it! This is a unique and personal way to promote my photography business. No one else has a seal stamp like mine.

If $27.00 seems like a lot for this type of thing, you might also consider looking at the less unique (but significantly less expensive) monogram seal stamps.

Of course, there are countless other ways to help differentiate your photography services from your competitors when delivering images. This just happens to be one of my new favorite techniques. :-)
