From DxO:

01/23/2013 - Version 1.1.1 of DxO ViewPoint, the software solution entirely dedicated to correcting keystoning as well as deformations caused by the use of wide-angle lenses, fixes various minor problems caused by extreme perspective corrections.

Based on DxO Labs’ advanced geometrical corrections, DxO ViewPoint corrects the distortion of the subjects on the edges of images — known as “volume anamorphosis” — due to the use of short focal lengths (as with wide-angle lenses). DxO ViewPoint also lets users correct the most complex kinds of perspective problems, including keystoning, without having to resort to costly shift lenses. Each of these features includes advanced fine-tuning controls to achieve the highest correction precision.

DxO ViewPoint can be used as a standalone application for Mac and Windows, and as a plugin for Adobe® Photoshop® CS3, CS4, CS5, CS6, and Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3 and 4.

This upgrade is free for all owners of DxO ViewPoint v1.0.

From DxO:

DxO ViewPoint v1.1 – Restoring the natural proportions and perspectives of your photos has gotten even easier

Special 35% discount through December 25, 2012

December 11, 2012 – DxO Labs announces the immediate availability of DxO ViewPoint v1.1, the new version of its software solution for Windows and Mac, entirely dedicated to correcting keystoning, as well as shape deformations caused by the use of wide-angle lenses. DxO ViewPoint v1.1 improves the accuracy of its perspective and cropping tools, as well as its speed, for an even better user experience.

Based on DxO Labs’ advanced geometrical corrections, DxO ViewPoint corrects the distortion of the subjects on the edges of images — known as “volume anamorphosis” — due to the use of short focal lengths (as with wide-angle lenses). DxO ViewPoint also lets users correct the most complex kinds of perspective problems, including keystoning, without having to resort to costly shift-lenses. Each of these features includes advanced fine-tuning controls to achieve the highest correction precision.

DxO ViewPoint can be used not only as a standalone application for Mac and Windows, but also as a plug-in for Adobe® Photoshop® CS3, CS4, CS5, CS6 and Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3 and 4.

More accurate tools

DxO ViewPoint v1.1 provides improved keystoning correction tools and more precise automatic recropping.

It is now possible to move grid lines directly in the image without having to reposition each anchor point; with this, the anchor points, as well as the slider settings, can now be directly and very precisely moved by using the keyboard.

The cropping tool now automatically detects the image’s orientation and is also more easily adjustable.

Faster for an enhanced user experience

Even easier to use, DxO ViewPoint v1.1 is now faster and offers several new features to improve workflow.

A new rotation function allows images to be correctly oriented, even when their EXIF data has been damaged.

A shortcut allows users to go from one zoom level to another, and automatically displays the Hand and Arrow tools, depending on the magnification of the image.

The application has also enhanced the recent Close and Open functions in the menus, and now alerts the user when a keystoning correction cannot be applied to the image.

Availability and price

DxO ViewPoint v1.1 for Windows and Mac is immediately available in the DxO Labs online store (www.dxo.com) and at photo resellers at a special discount price through December 25, 2012:

  • GBP: £49 instead of £69 (Suggested retail price, including VAT)

This upgrade is free for all owners of DxO ViewPoint v1.0.

 Wednesday, December 5, 2012

December 5, 2012 - DxO Labs announces the immediate availability of DxO Optics Pro v8.1 for Windows and Mac, the new version of its image processing software of reference for all serious photographers. DxO Optics Pro v8.1 now offers color management and sharpness enhancement when printing, an output option for reducing EXIF data, as well as numerous improvements to its interface for an even more rapid workflow.

This update also allows DxO Optics Pro 8 to support the Sony NEX-6, the Canon Powershot S110 and G15, and the Olympus Pen E-PM2 and E-PL5.

DxO Optics Pro v8.1 also benefits from the continuous addition of DxO Optics Modules. Nearly 150 new camera/lens combinations have been added to the library. The software now provides support for additional Canon, Olympus, and Sigma lenses for Canon, Olympus, and Sony cameras. Among these is the highly-anticipated Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM for Canon, the first very wide-aparture lens in the new Sigma Art line designed for landscape, portrait, still life, macro, and reportage.

Based on a unique approach of prior calibration in the laboratories of DxO Labs, DxO Optics Pro v8.1 includes numerous powerful and automatic RAW and JPEG image-processing tools. DxO Optics Pro v8.1 offers the best tool for automatically adjusting contrast and light, the most advanced optical corrections on the market, and precise color management. Its unrivaled performance and its intuitive interface provides a smooth and fast workflow.

Management of print color and sharpness

DxO Optics Pro v8.1 now allows photographers to adjust the color rendering and the sharpness of the images they print.

The new options in DxO Optics Pro v8.1's print module allow the user to choose an ICC color profile for directly managing the print rendering.

Further, a dedicated slider lets the user enhance the sharpness of the image so as to adapt the print quality to the size of the print desired.

New output options and improved interface

DxO Optics Pro v8.1 offers a new output option that allows users to remove all of the EXIF metadata contained in a JPEG or TIFF image file - very useful for restricting this kind of information as well as for reducing its size when sharing such files online.

Among other improvements found in DxO Optics Pro v8.1, the preferences window now displays the size of the disk space that the preview and thumbnail cache occupy.

In addition, the DxO Optics Modules management window has been enhanced to display all the available camera/lens combinations available, whether or not they have been installed on the user's computer.

Finally, the Windows version now includes certain improvements that were previously introduced in the Mac version. For example, information layer about corrections that cannot be previewed because of the zoom level has now been removed: this information is now directly indicated in the relevant palettes for greater user comfort.

More flexible OpenCL management

The thumbnail display as well as image processing in DxO Optics Pro 8 benefits from OpenCL acceleration (Windows version only). DxO Optics Pro v8.1 removes certain restrictions present in earlier versions and now allows users to activate this option at any time as soon as the graphics card on their computer supports this feature.

From DxO:

DxO Optics Pro 8 introduces DxO Smart Lighting allowing greater photo details and more vivid colors

Comprehensive image content analysis coupled with camera calibrationpushes image quality even further

Software will be available on October 29, 2012 at a 33% discount through November 15th

October 24, 2012 - DxO Labs announces the October 29th availability of DxO Optics Pro 8, a major new release of its image quality processing software of reference for all demanding photographers. Available for both Mac and Windows, DxO Optics Pro 8 provides the best tool for automatically adjusting contrast and light, the most advanced optical corrections, and even finer and more precise color management. Its enhanced performance and improved interface deliver a better user experience.

DxO Optics Pro is based on a unique approach consisting of extensive camera and lens calibrations in DxO Labs' laboratories. The software integrates several powerful tools delivering automatic RAW and JPEG image processing for both amateur photographers and experts: optical and geometrical corrections, exposure and contrast, noise reduction, and color and detail preservation.

DxO Optics Pro's many presets allow photographers to process images according to their own taste, getting in just a few cliks the best out of their photos, whatever the shooting conditions.

DxO Smart Lighting: Mastering the light with one slider

New DxO Smart Lighting brightens up photos by optimizing contrast and lighting quickly and efficiently. This exclusive DxO Labs technology intelligently adapts to image content and allows users to easily adjust image contrast using a single slider. DxO Smart Lighting automatically recovers details both in highlights and shadows under even the most extreme shooting conditions.

For more advanced users, DxO Optics Pro 8 offers a new Selective tone tool that allows them to apply precise corrections separately to highlights, midtones, and dark zones.

Brilliant and fully textured colors

The Protection of saturated colors tool can restore a significant number of details and rich textures hidden in areas of vivid or saturated color that can appear flatly uniform to the eye.

DxO Optics Pro 8 automatically applies the color rendering settings chosen by the photographer while precisely taking into account the current image content. Textures in vivid colors reappear, revealing all the details in the image.

Exceptional optical corrections: Even more supported lenses

Flaws in photos are specific to the combination of lens and camera used. DxO Labs has measured nearly 10,000 combinations to provide the specific corrections required for each camera.

Developed in DxO Labs' laboratory using an exclusive calibration process, DxO Optics Modules contain tens of thousands of data about the inner characteristics and flaws of each camera and lens. This unique and world exclusive database allows DxO Optics Pro to automatically correct all optical flaws with an unrivaled level of quality, for both RAW and JPEG images, including distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberrations, and lens softness.

DxO Optics Pro 8 further improves the correction of chromatic aberrations for RAW-format images by combining DxO Optics Module data with image content analysis.

The Lens softness tool, also based on DxO Optics Modules, automatically boosts lens resolution by homogenizing sharpness across the field. Optimized in DxO Optics Pro 8, the tool gives photographers extremely sharp images from the center of the image right out to the edges, even when the settings are pushed to high levels.

The opening of a new laboratory in Seattle has reinforced DxO Labs' measurement and calibration capacity. Now with six laboratories located in both Europe and the United States, DxO Labs has set a goal of providing 20,000 available DxO Optics Modules by the end of 2013.

A smoother user experience: Regrouping features and Retina screen optimization

DxO Labs has extensively revised the DxO Optics Pro 8 interface for more user comfort. The most commonly used functions have been regrouped to offer photographers easier visibility and handling.

A specific workspace brings together the most important and common operations such as white balance, color and contrast adjustment, and exposure compensation. Similarly, many advanced tools have been more logically reorganized in different palettes.

DxO Optics Pro 8's Mac interface has been entirely redesigned to take advantage of all the visual quality offered by Retina screens. Photographers can now enjoy unprecedented displayed details in their images!

Faster and truer viewing: A more efficient display and workflow

Beyond the improvements in terms of image quality and interface, DxO Optics Pro 8 has increased display speed.

Thumbnails now display in real time the current state of the photo, thanks to live preview. The user can now instantly figure out if a photo is the original one or the working version.

To improve workflow further, now every photo once opened in DxO Optics Pro instantaneously loads, even after closing and reopening the application - a real time-saver.

New tools: Print module and new Output settings options

DxO Optics Pro 8 now includes a new integrated print module allowing photographers to directly print RAW or JPEG images on the fly as they preview them. Different print modes and layout options are available, from contact sheet to full page printing.

As a part of the new Output settings options, users can now also adjust the destination and size and choose among several resampling solutions.

Availability and special introductory offer

The Standard and Elite editions of DxO Optics Pro 8 for Mac and Windows will be available on October 29, 2012, in the DxO Labs online store (shop.dxo.com), and at photo resellers during November, at a special introductory discount valid until November 15, 2012:

From DxO:

The production rate of DxO Optics Modules is accelerating, thanks to the recent optimization of its calibration processes. Since January 1st, more than 250 camera/lens combinations have been added.

This new version includes a tool that allows users to import all their projects and image processing information from DxO Optics Pro 6, and to integrate them into DxO Optics Pro 7 by merging both databases.

This DxO Optics Pro update also includes greater general stability as well as giving users the ability to crop photos in a more intuitive way.

From DxO:

DxO FilmPack 3.1 adds numerous creative renderings and an enhanced user interface

Special discount on DxO FilmPack 3.1, the leader in silver halide simulation software, now through December 24, 2011

Paris – November 15, 2011 – DxO Labs announces the immediate availability DxO FilmPack 3.1, the latest version of its famous silver halide simulation software. DxO FilmPack 3.1 adds a line of 25 new creative renderings and an improved user interface.

For world-renowned photographer Sebastião Salgado, “DxO FilmPack is an indispensible link to my previous photographic work.” DxO FilmPack has allowed him to faithfully reproduce in his digital image workflow the exact look and feel of Kodak® Tri-X film.

DxO FilmPack 3.1 brings to photos all the emotional impact of silver halide photography. Using an intuitive interface, beginners and experts alike can apply the characteristic tint, grain, and rendering of a traditional silver halide film type to any digital image, regardless of its source. Thanks to DxO Labs’ advanced calibration technology, DxO FilmPack 3.1 offers a renderings palette of unparalleled authenticity for 62 legendary film types —positive and negative color, black & white, and cross-processed.

25 NEW CREATIVE RENDERINGS TO ACHIEVE OUTSTANDING IMAGES

DxO FilmPack 3.1 (Expert Edition) offers a line of 25 new creative renderings. The experts at DxO Labs gave utmost consideration to the aesthetic qualities and creative dimensions for each rendering to ensure that they would lend images real emotional impact.

Vintage effects, color nuances, sepia variations, partial desaturations: each rendering is based on a very subtle combination of grain intensity, film style, vignetting, and color filters — “intelligent” renderings for outstanding images.

Users can use the same settings as for film renderings to fully customize each creative rendering, thus offering the possibility of numerous possible combinations. Batch processing allows for a huge increase in productivity.

SHARING THE IMPACT

Thanks to DxO FilmPack 3.1’s large number of presets, photographers can give free rein to their creativity by combining, for example, the color settings of one film rendering with the grain of another, thus creating their own personalized film look. A new import rendering function including in the Elite Edition of DxO FilmPack 3.1 lets DxO FilmPack users share one another’s customized film looks. Users can simply import custom renderings, rename them, and save the parameters of intensity, grain, contrast, and so on in their own settings library to apply to their own images.

AN INTUITIVE INTERFACE FOR UNLIMITED EXPLORATION

Designed to satisfy both beginners and experts, DxO FilmPack 3.1’s easy-to use interface allows users to freely explore all the possibilities of the film and creative renderings provided.

Thanks to its resizable filmstrip-style preview system, DxO FilmPack 3.1 allows users to better visualize renderings before applying them to their images.

DxO FilmPack 3.1 now offers a full-screen mode for greater comfort. Among the many other improvements to the interface, the channel mixer now incorporates color sliders, making their use even more intuitive.

EDITIONS

Compatible with Mac and Windows, DxO FilmPack 3.1 comes in 2 editions — Essential and Expert — which differ in terms of number of film renditions and features.

The two editions of DxO FilmPack 3.1 are available as standalone applications and as plugins for DxO Optics Pro®, Adobe® Photoshop CS®, Adobe® Lightroom® and Apple® Aperture®.
