Wimberley P40 Lens Plate Review

The Wimberley P40 Lens Plate is one of the finest lens plates available. This size plate is designed for large focal length super telephoto lenses such as the Canon EF 500mm f/4 IS L II Lens.

A lens plate such as the P40 is used to connect a super telephoto lens to a tripod head such as the Arca Swiss B1 Ballhead, Wimberley Sidekick or the Wimberley Gimbal Tripod Head. The lens plate attaches solidly to the tripod collar on the lens.

Since the Wimberley P40 Lens Plate (and all other Wimberley Lens Plates) features a double-dovetailed design, accessories can be attached above or below the plate. The plate/clamp design creates a convenient and solid attachment setup.

I primarily use the P40 to attach the Canon EF 500mm & 600mm f/4.0 L IS II USM Super Telephoto Lenses.
