Wimberley P30 Lens Plate Review

Like the Wimberley P20 and the Wimberley P40 Lens Plates The Wimberley P30 Lens Plate is a very high quality and well-machined lens plate. The P30 is made for lenses such as the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS II Lens.

A lens plate such as the P30 is used to connect a large tripod collar-equipped lens to a tripod head such as the Arca Swiss B1 Ballhead, Wimberley Sidekick or the Wimberley Gimbal Tripod Head. The lens plate attaches solidly to the tripod collar on the lens.

Since the P30 (and all other Wimberley Lens Plates) features a double-dovetailed design, accessories can be attached above or below the plate. The plate/clamp design creates a convenient and solid attachment setup.

I initially/primarily used the P30 to attach the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS II and similar lenses to the quick release clamps. However, since the Canon-EF-300mm-f-2.8-L-IS-II-USM-Lens-Review is the longer Wimberley lens plate to have the anti-twist nubs (very important) and because longer lens plates add versatility to their use, I have begun using P30s on most of my 300mm f/2.8 and smaller lenses.
