Moro Rock, Sequoia National Park

Sequoia National Park is much more than just Giant Sequoia trees. The drive on Generals Highway (RT 198) from Visalia past Lake Kaweah, into Sequoia National Park and to the base of the Moro Rock pinnacle is nothing short of spectacular.

This drive is not for the faint of heart - or for those with motion sickness issues. Check out this map to get a glimpse of what I'm talking about. The map of course does not show the tremendous drop-offs, does not show how narrow the road is - and does not indicate the lack of guard rails.

Parking at the base of Moro Rock is lacking - and the road is 1-way, meaning you might be required to circle back around. The hike up the rock is not bad - and the view is absolutely amazing.

A late May snow storm is pounding the peak of Castle Rocks in the distance. Moro Rock in of course in the foreground.
