Tamron Earthquake Notice

 Monday, March 14, 2011
March 14, 2011

Notice of temporal office close for two consecutive days: March 14 & 15

Dear Customers & Partners,

Please be advised that our offices will be temporarily closed for two days, including today (14th ) and tomorrow (15th) due to the situation caused by the earthquake and the tsunami last week, and will let you know by the close of business day tomorrow regarding the operations on the following days.

As you are well aware, Japan was hit by a major earthquake and a subsequent tsunami last Friday. Although a scope of destruction was relatively mild in Tokyo metroplex area (albeit some losses in life and casualties), that is not the case in northern territories alongside the Pacific coastal line as has been televised and webcasted over the past weekend. The whole magnitude of the devastation is still yet to be revealed indeed.

Unfortunately, significant damage has been done to the infrastructure, including electric power, transportation, communications and fuel services. Some airports were dysfunctional and road network are destructed here and there. In addition, a scheduled black-out has been officially implemented to secure continued supply of electricity in the entire regions from Tokyo metroplex (where our headquarters are located) to entire northern areas of mainland Japan. As you can imagine, this will inevitably disrupt our entire computer system network ranging from BOM management to transfer of goods as well as mail servers. Railways are only partially operated by the shortage of electricity, which inhibits many of our employees coming to the offices.

We would very much appreciate your understanding of the situation we are up against, and will definitely keep you abreast regarding the operations for rest of the week.

Last but not least, we sincerely appreciate your kind support and encouragement received right after the news hit the world. We will overcome this difficult time working together.

Cordially

Morio Ono
President & CEO

Notice - Anticipated Effects of Tokyo Electric Power Rolling Blackout Plan to Tamron Corporate Website

The Tokyo Electric Power Company has announced the implementation of a rolling blackout power rationing plan in response to the aftereffects of the Tohoku Pacific Earthquake. As a result, disruption of general Internet connectivity is anticipated. Difficulty in connecting to the Tamron corporate website is thus also anticipated.

Tamron will, to the best extent possible, maintain the provision of information and services on its website; however, conditions may cause impaired connectivity or a delay in responses. Tamron is grateful for your understanding and patience in light of these extraordinary circumstances.
