They are not available yet and the price has already gone up. Here are the new current prices for Canon's yet-to-be-available new L lenses:
Canon EF 8-15mm f/4 L USM Fisheye Lens - $1,499.00
Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS II USM Lens - $7,299.00
Canon EF 400mm f/2.8 L IS II USM Lens - $11,499.00
Canon EF 500mm f/4.0 L IS II USM Lens - $10,499.00
Canon EF 600mm f/4.0 L IS II USM Lens - 12,999.00
Those placing preorders should expect to get their lens(es) at the preordered price. I have never been charged an increased amount for a preordered camera or lens - though I have been given a discount if the price drops before the new product ships. Those who placed preorders for these new lenses have saved a very significant amount of money.
OK, so how can you
save $1,000 on the new 500 II and 600 II?
J&R and Amazon.com have not raised their prices yet. If you want one of these lenses, I highly recommend that you preorder them fast - before these two retailers figure out that their prices are not reflecting the current market price.
