We have found that some SIGMA interchangeable lenses for CANON are not fully compatible with CANON EOS 6D Mark II released on August 4th, as well as EOS 9000D (77D), EOS Kiss X9i (Rebel T7i) and EOS Kiss X9 (Rebel SL2).

When certain lenses are attached to these cameras and the “Lens aberration correction” function on these cameras is set to “Enable” for Live View shooting, an error would occur.

Please set the “Lens aberration correction” function of the cameras to “Disable” when using SIGMA’s interchangeable lenses for CANON.

In addition, please also refer to other notice below, related to the usage of EOS mount SIGMA lenses on Canon cameras.

Phenomenon

When the lenses listed below are used on EOS 6D Mark II, EOS 9000D, EOS Kiss X9i, or EOS Kiss X9 and the “Lens aberration correction” function on the camera is set to “Enable” for Live View shooting, an error would occur.

Usage Notice for customers who are using EOS mount SIGMA lenses on CANON cameras

When using the SIGMA lenses for CANON, “Peripheral illumination correction”, “Chromatic aberration correction”, “Diffraction correction” as well as “Distortion correction” from the “Lens aberration correction” function of the camera are not supported. Therefore, we recommend you to set them to “Disable”.

If those functions are set to “Enable”, the performance of the lenses may not be accurate.

Yesterday we reported that the 24-70mm f/2.8 OS Art and Sigma 14mm f/1.8 Art lenses were scheduled to begin shipping today based on information posted by B&H on the items' product pages. However, B&H has changed the availability expectations on their website as follows:

However, Sigma posted press releases today which state that both lenses are scheduled to begin shipping in "July 2017."

We have found that the combination of SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 (SA-E and EF-E) and some of SIGMA's interchangeable zoom lenses may not focus precisely, if it is attached to SONY a9 (ILCE-9), released by SONY in May in 2017. When using AF-S mode and shooting in telephoto range, it could occasionally display the shot is in focus, although it may not properly be focused on the subject.

The Sigma 100-400 C lens was announced in February alongside the 14mm f/1.8, 135mm f/1.8 and 24-70mm f/2.8 Art lenses. The 100-400 C is the second lens of the group to hit the streets, following a little more than a month after the 135mm Art's release.

SIGMA ELECTRONIC FLASH EF-630 F/CANON is scheduled to start the shipment in MARCH.

The SIGMA ELECTRONIC FLASH EF-630 is a multifunctional clip-on type flash, which offers a greater output of light with a guide number 63. Among the diverse features loaded on this flash is TTL exposure control as standard as well as high-speed sync, rear-curtain sync and wireless flash functions. The Auto zoom function which is designed to work with focal length 24-200mm, bounce-flash function, Wide Panel and Catch-light Panel of the EF-630 are perfect for various kinds of photography. The rear LCD offers an intuitive user interface for fast and easy operation. For instance, the new dot matrix liquid crystal display ensures improved visibility of setting status and menu function, and D-Pad and dial on the side of the flashgun make changing settings easier than ever.

Key Features:

Intuitive user interface for ease of use
The new dot matrix liquid crystal display is incorporated for this flash. Moreover, the D-Pad and dial on the side of the flashgun make changing settings, such as TTL auto exposure system, wireless flash, FP flash and rear-curtain sync, on the main screen and setup menu displayed on the LCD easier than ever. The flash is designed to disengage easily by one-click on the shoe lock lever. In addition, a flash sync terminal and notification beep sound when the flashgun is fully charged improves ease of use.

Guide Number 63 offering a greater output of light
The maximum guide number is 63 for a high light level (when the focal length is 200mm). It is possible to change the illumination angle from 24mm wide to 200mm telephoto. It also covers an angle of a 17mm when used with the built-in Wide Panel.

Three light distribution modes
The flash is designed to work in three light distribution modes. Normal emission mode has basic light distribution for general photography, and another mode prioritizes guide number to obtain an even larger output. Flat light distribution mode has a characteristic of uniform light distribution by reducing the fall off of peripheral light. It is possible to select the mode in accordance with the purpose.

Bounce-flash function with movable flash head
The flash head of the EF-630 can be tilted up by as much as 90°and can swivel both left and right by 180°. Bounce photography, where light is reflected off a white wall, ceiling or a reflector increases the range of photographic expression. The flash head can also be tilted down by 7°for close-up shots.

Wireless TTL Flash Function
The wireless TTL flash function will adjust the desired flash exposure automatically by flash light even if the EF-630 is detached from the camera. Remote control operation is possible between the camera and flash. When multiple flash units are used, the camera calculates the correct exposure automatically.

Slave Flash Function
Slave Flash can be used with all camera models and it allows the flash to be fired away from the camera by the master unit though it is not possible to set flash exposure automatically. The Designated Slave function for EF-630 allows the photographer to use two or more EF-630 flash units simultaneously. It is possible to designate flashguns by using different channel settings. In the Normal Slave mode, it is also possible to use the camera's built-in flash or another flash unit as the Master.

FP Flash function for high shutter speeds
Cameras with flash focal plane shutters cannot perform flash photography at shutter speeds faster than the fixed synchronization speed as it is usually limited to coincide with the fully open shutter. The FP flash function makes flash photography possible at shutter speeds greater than the fixed synchronization speed. When the lens diaphragm is set to larger apertures to limit depth of field in synchronized daytime shooting, high shutter speeds can be used to balance the daylight and the flashlight at any shutter speed.

Rear-curtain Sync flash function for natural representation of motion
When photographing a moving subject, the Rear-curtain Sync mode allows the flash to be triggered immediately before the rear-curtain of the shutter closes. Unlike Front-curtain Sync, this mode records blurred trails behind a moving subject rather than in front for a more natural expression of motion.

Multiple Flash Photography
In a single frame it is possible to capture the frozen-in-motion image of a subject by a series of light bursts.

AF assist light for accurate auto-focus in low light conditions
Accurate AF may not be possible in dark conditions. However, the AF assist light of the EF-630 allows effective AF between approximately 0.7m and 10m.

Manual flash power level control
The flash power level of the EF-630 can be set manually from 1/1 to 1/128 in 1/3 EV increments to meet the photographer’s needs.

Modeling Flash function to check for shadow
The EF-630 also offers a modeling flash function, enabling the user to check for reflections and shadows before taking a photograph.

Custom Mode Function
The Custom Mode Function is available to register two settings with the photographer’s preference. It is easy to set it with D-Pad and dial on the side of the flashgun.

Notification beep sound
When the notification beep sound is turned on by the switch at the front of the flash, it is possible to check the status of flash such as whether it is fully charged, exposure is ok, as well as error alert only by the sound without looking at the LCD display.

Auto Power-Off function prevents power waste
To conserve battery life, the EF-630 will automatically turn off after a certain period of time of inactivity.

Catch Light Panel
This flash is equipped with a built-in catch light panel, which can highlight the eyes of the subject when the bounce flash mode is activated.

Synchronic Terminal
The EF-630 is equipped with a Synchronization Terminal to connect a camera with the commercially available synchronization cable.

Regular firmware updates
Photographers can update the firmware via the newly developed optional FLASH USB DOCK FD-11(Sold separately). The firmware can be updated by attaching the EF-630 to the FD-11 and then connecting the FD-11, via a USB cable, to a personal computer on which the exclusive software SIGMA Optimization Pro has been installed.

February 21, 2017 – Sigma Corporation today announced its brand new Global Vision Art and Contemporary lenses to be introduced at the 2017 CP+ Camera + Photo Imaging Show in Tokyo, Japan.

• 14mm F1.8 DG HSM Art - World’s first F1.8, ultra-wide, full-frame prime lens designed for high resolution cameras; ideal for shooting architecture, astrophotography, documentary and landscapes.
• 135mm F1.8 DG HSM Art – Formidable telephoto prime with high-speed aperture; ideal for shooting weddings, concerts, events and studio/location portraiture.
• 24-70mm F2.8 DG HSM OS Art – Fast, constant-aperture zoom workhorse upgraded to the exacting standards of the high performance Sigma Art series.
• 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG HSM OS Contemporary - Highly versatile, lightweight and compact super zoom touting strong IQ and image stabilization.

Sigma 14mm F1.8 DG HSM Art

Debuting the world’s first 1.8 wide-angle lens, the 14mm F1.8 Art incorporates the same groundbreaking aspherical element as Sigma’s critically acclaimed 12-24mm F4 Art. Boasting outstanding image quality from center to edge, the 14mm F1.8 Art features the largest glass mold (80mm) in the industry, offering photographers an ultra-wide prime with virtually no distortion, flare or ghosting. Three lens elements are made with FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass, which is equivalent to calcium fluorite in performance, and four SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, which reduce chromatic aberration. In addition to the great IQ from edge to edge, the new 14mm F1.8 offers a superfast and efficient AF system.

With a minimum focus distance of 10.6 inches at 14mm, photographers can compose incredible close-up shots with expansive backgrounds.

Sigma 135mm F1.8 DG HSM Art

Boasting outstanding sharpness and great IQ from edge to edge, the 135mm F1.8 Art lens enters the market as Sigma’s new premiere mid-range telephoto prime lens. Ideal for events such as concerts, indoor sports, conferences and press events, the 1.8 F-stop delivers greater “shallow depth of field” and isolation of subjects. The outstanding compression effect makes it equally as powerful for up-close and full-length portraits. Its new large hyper sonic motor (HSM) provides ample torque to the focus group for optimal speed while the acceleration sensor detects the position of the lens for compensation focus groups for factors including gravity, producing faster and more responsive AF. Equipped with a focus limiter, the 135mm F1.8 Art can be easily optimized for a variety of distances and situations.

Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG HSM OS Art

Featuring a brand new OS and highly efficient and fast AF system, the revamped 24-70mm F2.8 Art embodies all the technical qualities and finesse that define the high-performance Sigma Global Vision Art series. Covering a wide range of shooting scenarios, the 24-70mm workhorse DNA includes three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and four aspherical elements to reduce chromatic aberration. The 24-70mm F2.8 Art aspherical elements use Sigma’s groundbreaking thicker center glass design and highly precise polishing process, delivering stunning images and bokeh effects. The lens’ purpose-built structure boasts a new metal barrel for optimal durability with TSC composite internal moving components designed to resist thermal contraction and expansion.

Equipped with the newly released Sigma OS and AF, the lens provides exceptional performance at lower shutter speeds. It appears Sigma is set to announce four new Global Vision lenses at the upcoming CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2017 (Feb 23-26). Two of those lenses – the 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art and 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary – have already shown up on Sigma's website under the News section (the links to the actual press releases do not work).
