This service notice is addressing a 5D III anomaly being referred to as the "light leak".
Finding a real world situation where the "light leak" anomaly causes a problem is not easy - I have not encountered any - even when I tried to do so. And, I'm probably using manual exposures if shooting in situations this dark.
Turning off the top LCD panel illumination before metering is the easy workaround (and possibly covering the top LCD if the light source is external).
The EOS 5D III is very difficult to find in stock right now. Preorders are being taken by most of the retailers listed on the site including B&H
Though somewhat hard to believe, Adorama
*appears* to have both the Canon EOS 5D Mark III Body and Lens Kit
in stock. The usual "New item available for pre-order. You may place this on order now a..." or similar notation is not present for the 5D III listings. Backing up the in stock status premise is that Adorama has 5D III bodies and kits both listed on eBay.
Here are Adorama's 5D III eBay listings
- "More than 10 available". Canon EOS 5D Mark III Camera bodies and kits
are also available from other sellers on eBay
has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens

The 5D III has become my primary DSLR - at least until the 1D X shows up.
A new configuration option is now available on the site - allowing you to optionally exclude deals from the Canon News, Nikon News & What's New Sidebar.
The News sidebar appears on the right side on most pages on the site. A small on/off button in the titlebar of that sidebar allows deals to be included or excluded as you desire.
Now I have to find some deals to post so you can try out the new feature.
The-Digital-Picture.com has a new, much shorter, Facebook URL: http://www.facebook.com/TheDigitalPicture
At this point, the facebook page is using the site's news feed with some discussion added.
