From Spider Camera Holster:
The Spider Monkey Offers a Unique Solution That Allows Photo Accessories to Hang from a Belt for Quick-Draw Access; Visit Booth #330 for a Hands-On Demonstration
Las Vegas, NV – WPPI EXPO 2013 (Booth #330), March 11, 2013 - Spider Holster, a company specializing in unique holster-style camera carrying solutions for photographers, today announced the launch of its newest item, the Spider Monkey Holster for photographic accessories.
Spider Monkey is a compact yet durable holster clip that easily attaches to any belt or camera bag loop allowing photographers to hang their most-used equipment for quick-draw accessibility. Combined with a series of purpose-built Spider Monkey attachments, the new line offers photographers a new level of workflow flexibility. To learn more about the Spider Monkey Accessory Holster, photographers can visit, and attendees of the WPPI Expo (March 11-13, 2013 MGM Grand, Las Vegas, NV) can visit Spider Holster in booth #330 for a hands-on demonstration.
The scalable Spider Monkey accessory system eliminates the need for photographers to carry an added shoulder bag by hanging their most oft-used tools right on their belt. The durable Spider Monkey Base clip and tab are built for long-term use, with the ability to securely hold camera accessories weighing about one pound including flashes, light meters and battery packs. The Spider Monkey Tab attaches to the accessory with a robust adhesive tab (which removes cleanly after use) and an additional Velcro attachment band for ultimate security. The Spider Monkey’s built-in lock enables the user to ensure the accessory is securely hung and ready for quick-draw retrieval, all with one hand.
“Offering the same great benefits and flexibility as our Spider Camera Holster, the Spider Monkey accessory clip completely eliminates the strain that comes with the tangle of equipment bags and swing of neck and shoulder straps by safely holstering the gear you need on your belt,” said Shai Eynav, President of Spider Holster. “By transferring the camera accessories to the waste, we add a new level of accessibility to essential gear that allows photographers to get the best image at the right time, whenever needed.”
In addition to the holster clip, adhesive tab and the Velcro attachment loop which comprise the base Spider Monkey system. Spider Holster will soon be offering several add-on purpose-built items that will further enhance the functionality of the Spider Monkey, including a water bottle pouch, modular rain cover, and lens pouches for small to medium sized lenses.
The base Spider Monkey system, with holster clip, adhesive tab and the Velcro attachment loop will carry an MSRP of $17.00. Spider Monkey will be available for purchase at Spider Holster authorized dealers.

This is's Weekend Recap for the week ending March 9nd, 2013.
In the news...On Sunday, both Canon and Nikon extended previously running rebate programs while Canon created additional programs for the EOS 5D Mark III, 6D, 7D, 60D, and EOS M cameras. Rebate programs from both companies are scheduled to end March 30th.
On Monday, Nikon announced three new COOLPIX cameras – the S3500, P330, and most notably, the COOLPIX A. The S3500 features a 20 megapixel sensor with image stabilization and 720p video recording, while the P330 features a 12 megapixel sensor with image stabilization, full 1080p HD video recording, Wi-fi compatibility with the WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter, and built-in GPS.
The standout, however, was the announcement of Nikon’s first COOLPIX with a DX-sized sensor, the COOLPIX A. Sporting the same sensor found in their consumer grade DSLRs with an 18.5mm f/2.8 prime lens, the COOLPIX A promises DSLR-like performance from its 16 megapixel CMOS sensor, full manual controls, and RAW output.
Also on Monday, Nikon announced the AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR lens. Although the lens is designed for full-frame bodies, DX-format bodies will enjoy an equivalent focal range of 120-600mm. The new NIKKOR 80-400mm lens should be available in April with a suggested price slightly under $2,700.00.
On Wednesday, we posted an announcement regarding the availability of white lens hoods at B&H. The novel white lens hoods, made by Vello, are available to fit various Canon EF 70-200mm L zoom lenses.
On Friday, Sigma announced pricing for its updated 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM Lens. The lens will have a suggested retail price of $499.00.
And, for our deal of the week…
On Sunday, we posted a deal from the Canon Store where you could get a Refurbished 5D Mark III DSLR Camera for 15% off, or $2,379.33 plus tax. Compare that to a new model going for $2,949.00.

From Kenro:
Friday March 8, 2013 - Kenro, the official UK distributors of Nissin Flash Guns, gave Focus visitors a first-look at the Nissin Di700, a new second-generation advanced flash gun, ahead of its official UK launch in the coming months.
The new enhanced flash gun comes with a range of innovative functions all designed with the photographer’s needs in mind. The Di700 model has increased to 24-200mm from its predecessor and can achieve a maximum output of GN50 at 200mm. Compared with same-level flashes from other brands, the Nissin Di700 can create a variety of light changes, giving the photographer a wider range of option whilst shooting.
Nissin have also developed a new rotating lock release button feature for greater versatility. The model supports 180° horizontal rotation to the right and left, tilts up to 90° and expands 7° downwards, making it ideal for close-up photography.
What’s more, the Nissin Di700 is the only flash in its category equipped with an external power socket. Operating with the new Nissin Power Pack PS 8 can greatly shorten the recycling time and increase number of flashes, which is further reinforced by its impressive synchronization, supporting up to 1/8000 second shutter speed, perfect for incredible wildlife and action photography.
For maximum practicality, Nissin has also added sockets for PC sync and 3.5mm sync for studio lighting system connection.
Other features of the Nissin Di700:
Recycling time: 0.1 – 4 seconds
Flash duration: 200- 1500 flashes
Colour temperature: 5,600K
Exposure control: E-TTL II / E-TTL (for Canon), i-TTL (Nikon) and Sony ADI/P-TTL
Wireless Mode: Wireless TTL non TTL Slave (SD mode FS mode)
AF-assist beam effective range: 0.7-6m / 2.3-19.7 feet
Dimensions: 40 (H) x 75 (W) X 115 (D) mm/ 1.6 (H) x 3 (W) x 4.5 (D) inches
Weight: 350g (without battery pack)
Kenro managing director Paul Kench commented: "Nissin are renowned for creating innovative flash guns across the globe and their latest offering is an extremely exciting opportunity for photographers to experience these new and unique functions to further their photographic work. The Di700’s light, stylish design teamed with its easy-to-use features make it an ideal choice of flash and we are confident that it will be very popular.”
The new Nissin Di700 will be available in Canon, Nikon and Sony digital SLR camera fittings and is scheduled to be launched April 2013. Pricing details will be available closer to its launch.
