Photoshop CC
Create anything you can imagine, anywhere you are.
Photoshop CC is a family of desktop and mobile apps, connected to each other and to your creative assets via CreativeSync, so you can tap into the power, precision, and performance of Photoshop wherever you are to create anything you can imagine—including images, 2D and 3D designs, videos, and more.
For the Photoshop family, we’re focusing on two major initiatives:
First, deliver tools where our customers can do real work on mobile devices with Photoshop Fix, Mix and Sketch, all connected to each other and our desktop products via CreativeSync for a vibrant ecosystem of new capabilities and workflows so you can push your creativity further than ever before in new locations, on new devices.
Second, we are investing in delivering new capabilities and efficiencies for designers in desktop Photoshop. Over the past two years we have made a major investment in new design tools across type and fonts, Artboards, Linked Assets, Creative Cloud Libraries, Adobe Stock, Asset Export, 3D (and MUCH more…) and with this new version we are making Design Space (preview) available to more customers and in more languages. This is a new space inside Photoshop, custom created to address the workflows of today’s web, UI and app designers.
Here’s today’s news:
Photoshop Fix 1.0 – NEW!

We are thrilled today to introduce and make immediately available Photoshop Fix, a new mobile app built to make non-destructive image retouching easier than ever before. With Fix, we started with the state-of-the-art retouching technology from Photoshop and Lightroom, added some new secret sauce and packaged it all up in a mobile workflow specifically designed to make retouching fast and easy while on the go, while still producing Photoshop-quality results.
Fix includes Liquify to reshape any area of an image; Healing Brush to remove image imperfections such as scratches and blemishes; Smooth to easily smooth or sharpen areas of a landscape or parts of skin; unmatched face detection that recognizes when a specific section of the face is selected and enables detailed refinements; and much more.
Fix even delivers amazing performance on images from high-end DSLRs (depending on your hardware capabilities). Try it out. I promise you won’t have seen this kind of performance on a mobile device before.
Fix is deeply connected to Lightroom and Photoshop through CreativeSync. You can edit your Lightroom images directly in Photoshop Fix and save them back to your Lightroom catalog without ever leaving Fix. Use Photoshop to open a retouched image you created in Fix and get the full, layered PSD file showing all the adjustments and masks from your Fix edits.
It is available free on iPhone and iPad.
Photoshop Mix 2.0

Today we have released Photoshop Mix 2.0. This is a major update to Mix with many new features and improvements throughout the app, including a completely new architecture that leverages Apple’s Metal framework.
Photoshop Mix is a compositing app built using Photoshop technology that delivers a deep, focused, non-destructive editing experience on a mobile device. It enables you to do real work while away from your desktop. Through CreativeSync, Mix also connects to many of Adobe’s other mobile apps like Fix for retouching workflows and Lightroom for image enhancements, so you can easily produce multifaceted projects in a completely mobile environment. Plus, if you want to take your projects even further, you can quickly move your layered and masked compositions to Photoshop CC, and benefit from all its goodness. And now, there’s even non-destructive smart filter support in Photoshop CC for Mix looks.
Just some of what’s new in Mix today:
  • More layers
  • Nine blend modes (the most popular from Photoshop) that allow textures, multiple exposure effects and more, for more serious and complex work away from the desktop
  • Nearly twice as many image adjustments
  • Support for Layer Masks to create double exposure, stencil and other creative effects
  • CreativeSync-enabled direct connection with Lightroom and the exciting, new Photoshop Fix
Mix is free and available on iPhone and iPad and Android (2.0 on Android coming soon).
Get Mix 2.0 for iOS here. Get Mix 1.2 for Android here.
Adobe Camera Raw 9.2
Adobe Camera Raw 9.2 releases today and remains in sync with Lightroom with the ability to easily remove or add atmospheric haze in specific areas of your photos using the Local Adjustment Brush, Radial Filter, and Graduated Filter plus, a new way to navigate through your images when zoomed in. And as always you will get support for more cameras and lenses.
For more information about ACR, visit the Lightroom Journal here.
Here’s what will be available in the coming weeks:
Photoshop CC 2015
Today, we are announcing a major update to the desktop version of Photoshop. One new web-based component of Photoshop will ship today, which I will describe below. The primary Photoshop desktop application will ship in the coming weeks when we release all our other desktop apps like InDesign CC, Illustrator CC, Premier Pro CC, etc. and I will write a detailed blog post about Photoshop on that date. To whet your appetite, here is just some of we are adding:
  • Even more enhancements for designers – continuing to build out this major area of focus for you. – We are adding a completely streamlined and tuned Design Space mode targeted for web and UI designers; new Artboard capabilities; the ability to directly import SVG files that you can rescale in your designs; and Creative Cloud Libraries improvements that speed up your asset access and management workflows.
  • The ability to easily work with 3D figures and incorporate them into your images and designs directly in Photoshop. – Import, pose, and animate characters created in the new Adobe Fuse CC (Preview), and then adjust camera angles, lighting, and position to get precisely the look you want in Photoshop. Just imagine all the possibilities and the flexibility you gain when you can pose, re-pose, change the lighting of people in images in ways that are very challenging in 2D.
The update notice on the Adobe Blog covers some products not included above including Photoshop Sketch 3.0 and a 3D animation service.
Adobe's Creative Cloud Photography Plan (USD$9.99 per month) includes Lightroom CC across desktop, web and mobile, Photoshop CC and Photoshop Mix (for iPhone and iPad).

Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 14
From the Adobe Blog:
September 24, 2015 – If you’re like most people, there’s a lot going on in your life. In addition to work and other day-to-day activities, you’re busy with back-to-school events, weekend outings, sports, hobbies, holidays and gatherings with friends and family. And since you always have your smartphone or tablet with you, you’re probably taking more photos and videos than ever before.
It’s great that you can easily capture these moments, but since you’re living the moments, too, you don’t want to have to worry about things like lighting, composition and trying to get the perfect shot or video. That’s why the Elements team is excited to announce the release of Photoshop Elements 14 & Premiere Elements 14. We built this version with the goal of helping you stay in the moment, enjoy your memories and make the most of your precious time. Elements 14 software uses content intelligence, automated features and a friendly interface to help you effortlessly turn your quick snapshots and video clips into amazing photos and movies.
We’ve created some great new features and we’ve enhanced existing ones to make them better and easier to use. Here’s a quick look:
What’s new in the Elements Organizer
Find and organize with ease: We’ve revamped the Elements Organizer so you can more quickly find the photos and videos you need. The enhanced People view does an even better job recognizing the faces in your photos, and it stacks them by person during import so it’s easy to find photos of specific people later.
The enhanced Places view makes it easier to assign locations to your photos and videos, and view them right on a map based on where you took them. And in the Events view, your media is clustered by date range making it easy to apply an Events tag to that cluster.
What’s new in Photoshop Elements 14

Bye-bye, camera shake: We call Shake Reduction “your selfies’ best friend,” but it’s great for any photo shot with a handheld camera. Just click to remove the camera shake blurs that come from unsteady hands.
Never a hazy day: Ever notice that, when you take a photo of an outdoor landscape, moisture in the air can cause the background to look hazy? Now you can use Haze Remover to make the background as crisp as what’s up front. De-haze in one click, or use sliders for more control.
Speed Guided Edit for action shots: Whether your photo captures a ball in flight, a bike zipping by, or some other cool moment, now you can get step-by-step help amping up the action by adding cool motion blurs.
Resize in seconds with a new Guided Edit: Want your photo to fit a certain picture frame or spot on a website? With step-by-step help, resizing has never been easier.
Select hair in a snap: It used to be a real chore to select hair, pet fur and other fine details in photos. Now you can just paint loosely over the area you want to select, and Elements detects the edges and does the rest with the Fine Detail Selection option.
Get custom looks to fit any photo: Want to give a photo some extra style, but not sure which effect will look best? Elements analyzes the subject, color and lighting and Smart Looks gives you five effects that fit perfectly.
Quick edits made easier: Quick Edit mode is now even friendlier and easier to use, letting you rotate photos and make quick fixes faster than before.
What’s new in Premiere Elements 14

Tell dazzling stories with motion titles: When you’ve made a great movie, why not start it off right? Grab attention with new, professional-looking motion titles. Premiere Elements makes it easy to animate text and graphics using built-in presets.
Color Pop Guided Edit for instant wow: Color Pop for photos was a big hit last year, so we added a Guided Edit for Premiere Elements this year. Create some visual drama by popping one or more colors in a scene and pushing everything else to black-and-white. You can fine-tune for hue, saturation and luminance, too. Elements walks you through it step by step.
Play with time using Guided Edits: Get step-by-step help creating slow-motion effects that add emphasis, suspense or drama. Or, get guidance with adding fast-motion effects that speed up your story and create energy, excitement or fun.
Go beyond HD with 4K: If you’ve got a 4K Ultra HD video camera and/or TV, you know what all the fuss is about. Now you can use Premiere Elements to edit and view 4K movies for the ultimate cinematic experience.*
Sound your best: Audio sets your movie’s mood, and now it’s easier than ever to fine-tune your sound. We’ve brought all of the audio features together in one place so they’re easy to find, and a new toggle screen lets you focus on just audio or video parts of a clip as needed.
Easily export optimized movies in multiple formats: Now when you’re ready to export your movie, Premiere Elements recommends settings for you. That way you get a movie that looks great on whatever device or screen you choose, from iPads, iPods and other smartphones to big-screen 4K and HD TVs.
B&H has Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 and Premiere Elements 14 available for preorder.

In today's world, photographers sometimes have to be more than photographers. Sometimes we have to be film producers, creative directors and graphic designers (just to name a few) in order to keep our services relevant in today's competitive labor environment.
It's nice to know that Adobe is keeping that in mind as they make Photoshop more versatile than ever. [Sean]
From the Adobe Photoshop YouTube Channel:
The 2015 release of Photoshop CC is full of great features for graphic designers and illustrators. New features include Artboards that allow you to create multiple layouts in one Photoshop document and Linked Assets in Creative Cloud Libraries where when a change is made to an asset, you and your team members have the option of updating it across any Photoshop, Illustrator or lnDesign projects where it's used. Adobe Evangelist, Paul Trani, gives a rundown of these features and more, all starting from a layout created on a mobile device.

    • Recommended Workflow – Adjust the white balance of the image before applying the Dehaze control.
  • Local White and Black Adjustment Sliders

Adobe Creative Cloud Logo
From Adobe:
SAN JOSE, Calif. — June 16, 2015 — Adobe (Nasdaq:ADBE) today launched a milestone release of its flagship Adobe Creative Cloud tools and services. The 2015 release of Creative Cloud includes major updates to Adobe’s industry-defining desktop tools, including Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, Premiere Pro CC and InDesign CC; as well as new connected mobile apps for iOS and Android. The company also shipped Adobe Stock, the industry’s first stock content service to be integrated directly into the creative process and the tools creatives use every day (see separate press release). In addition, Adobe announced an expanded Creative Cloud enterprise offering that includes enterprise-grade administration, security, collaboration and publishing services for design-driven brands, businesses and large organizations.
“The 2015 release of Creative Cloud is packed with innovation. Adobe Stock, our brand new stock service, makes 40 million photos, vector graphics and illustrations accessible directly within your favorite CC desktop apps. Our CreativeSync technology deepens the connections between desktop apps and mobile apps on iOS and Android; and major updates to Creative Cloud’s infrastructure and administrative capabilities makes this an essential upgrade for enterprise customers,” said David Wadhwani, senior vice president, Digital Media, Adobe. “Creative Cloud 2015 is our most powerful and comprehensive release to date.”
At the heart of Creative Cloud is Adobe CreativeSync, a signature technology that intelligently syncs creative assets: files, photos, fonts, vector graphics, brushes, colors, settings, metadata and more. With CreativeSync, assets are instantly available, in the right format, wherever designers need them – across desktop, web and mobile apps. Available exclusively in Creative Cloud, CreativeSync means work can be kicked off in any connected Creative Cloud mobile app or CC desktop tool; picked up again later in another; and finished in the designer’s favorite CC desktop software.
Desktop Tools Take Giant Leap Forward
With the 2015 release of Creative Cloud, Adobe magic and Mercury performance provide speed and technology breakthroughs across 15 CC desktop applications, including:
  • Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Photoshop CC introduces Artboards, the best way to design cross-device user experiences in a single Photoshop document and quickly preview them on a device; and a preview release of Photoshop Design Space, a sleek new work environment focused on the needs of mobile app and web site designers.
  • Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC both gain the new Dehaze feature, which appeared first as a MAX sneak in October 2014. Dehaze, eliminates fog and haze from photos, including underwater shots, for startlingly clear images. Haze can also be added to a photo for artistic effect.
  • Premiere Pro CC furthers its lead in the market with the addition of the Lumetri Color panel for powerful color corrections using intuitive sliders and other simple controls; and Morph Cut, which makes it easier to deliver polished interview content by smoothing out jump cuts in talking-head shots to create a cohesive, polished sequence.
  • After Effects CC now has Uninterrupted Preview to allow artists to adjust a composition’s properties and even resize panels without impacting playback. Also, the groundbreaking Adobe Character Animator brings 2D figures to life using a webcam to track facial movements, record dialog and apply movements in real time onto a pre-configured character.
  • Illustrator CC is now 10 times faster and 10 times more precise than CS6. Powered by dramatic boosts to its Mercury Performance Engine, users can now pan and zoom smoothly without delays. With the new Chart tool (preview), designers can also create beautiful custom charts and share them with others via CC Libraries.
  • InDesign CC gets its own Mercury performance surge with zooming, scrolling, and paging through complex documents now twice as fast. InDesign now also allows users to publish and distribute documents with a single click.
  • Dreamweaver CC has new responsive web design capabilities that let designers quickly lay out and build production-ready sites that adapt to any screen size.
  • Adobe Muse now includes instant access to premium fonts from Typekit.
  • And much, much more. Additional updates to these and other CC desktop applications make this one of the biggest releases in years.
Mobile to Desktop Workflows Enhanced with Android Support, New Mobile Apps
Since Creative Cloud was introduced in 2012, Adobe has championed the idea that mobile devices should be integral to the creative process, with free companion mobile apps working seamlessly with CC desktop tools. Adobe today released Brush CC, Shape CC, Color CC and Photoshop Mix on Android for the first time, bringing connected mobile workflows to millions of creatives worldwide. Adobe has also updated many of its popular Creative Cloud mobile apps for iPhone and iPad, including Adobe Comp CC, Photoshop Mix, Photoshop Sketch, Illustrator Draw, Brush CC, Shape CC and Color CC.
In addition to these updates Adobe debuted Adobe Hue CC today. Hue CC provides an easy way to capture and share production-quality lighting and color schemes – for video, film and broadcast – by using an iPhone camera and then applying these light and color moods into a Premiere Pro CC or After Effects CC project.
Adobe Stock Content Service Launched, With Deep Creative Cloud Integration
Adobe Creative Cloud is evolving into a vibrant global marketplace. Adobe Talent, introduced in 2014, connects the world’s best creatives with work opportunities from major brands and agencies; and today the company launched Adobe Stock, the first stock content service to be integrated directly into the creative process and the tools that creatives use every day (see separate press release). Now creatives can jump-start projects, with access to 40 million images, right within tools such as Photoshop CC, InDesign CC and Illustrator CC. Adobe also announced it will offer industry-leading rates to photographers and designers contributing content to Adobe Stock.
Creative Cloud Enabling the Digital Transformation of Enterprises
Major enhancements to Creative Cloud for enterprise were also announced today: a solution for large commercial, education and government customers who must radically speed the development and publishing of customer experiences, as part of their digital transformation strategies. This edition includes all the product features from today’s Creative Cloud 2015 release, plus expanded security options and deep connections with Adobe Digital Publishing Solution (DPS) and Adobe Marketing Cloud. Two new security capabilities ensure protection of corporate assets, including customer-managed encryption keys and a new managed service hosting option, which offers dedicated storage behind a customer’s firewall. Creative Cloud for enterprise also supports an upcoming release of DPS, empowering existing teams in organizations to rapidly design and publish mobile apps without writing code. A public beta of this major update to DPS is available this week, with more information available at Content from Creative Cloud for enterprise also syncs with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), a key component of Adobe Marketing cloud, to accelerate marketing campaigns by streamlining creative-to-marketing workflows.
Pricing and Availability
Today’s updates to CC desktop and mobile apps are immediately available for download by Creative Cloud members as part of their membership at no additional cost. Membership plans are available for individuals, students, teams, educational institutions, government agencies and enterprises. Photoshop Touch App Icon
Yesterday we posted a video where Adobe's Bryan O'Neil Hughes was showing off what's in development for mobile platforms, mainly the handling of large resolution files, the healing brush and liquify features. However, I failed to notice the accompanying blog post at the time.
In article, Hughes announces the end of Photoshop Touch:
"Sometimes building for the future means we need to make hard choices and today I am also announcing that we are discontinuing Photoshop Touch. For those of you who have been using Photoshop Touch, thank you and please continue creating amazing work with it; while it will no longer be available in stores as of May 28th and we won’t ship further updates, it will remain completely functional on your devices for the foreseeable future. For further information on how this change could impact your workflow, please visit here.
Photoshop Touch was available across platforms and so I’d like to leave all of you on Android with some good news – we’re actively developing new mobile applications for Android and will share those with you very soon."
For what it's worth, I have Photoshop Touch on my Samsung Galaxy S3 and I've only used it a handful of times. While decently capable as an editing app, it wasn't quite as intuitive as I thought it should be.
Maybe Adobe thought so as well?
For whatever reasons, the app will be removed from app stores on May 28. If you'd like to grab a copy of the app before it's gone, now's the time to snatch it up (Android | iOS). Otherwise, Android users have something to look forward to – we just don't know what or when exactly that will be.

From Adobe:
Camera Raw 9.0 is now available as a final release through the update mechanism in Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC.
As mentioned here, updates to Camera Raw for Photoshop CS6 only include new camera support, lens profile support, and bug fixes. The new features listed in the release notes are only available in Photoshop CC.
New Features
Merge to HDR and Panorama
Combine your photos to produce panoramas and HDR images in ACR. The merged result is a DNG file and is saved to disk alongside the input images. If you are merging raw files, then the merge is performed using raw image data and the resulting DNG is just as much a raw file as the originals (and retains all the editing flexibility that comes with shooting raw). Because of this, you no longer need to edit your photos before merging. To see the new Merge feature in action, check out these videos: Merge to Pano | Merge to HDR
Usage Instructions:
  1. To merge files in ACR, select the photos that you want to merge then press the “Merge…” button at the top of the filmstrip. Select “Panorama” or “HDR” from the pop-up menu.
  2. After a preview of the merge is generated, select desired options in the merge preview dialog and click the “Merge” button to start a full-size merge.
  3. The full-size merge is performed in the background so you can continue to edit other photos or start other merges while you wait. To view status, or cancel a merge, press the link in the lower left area of the main ACR window (it will say “1 remaining” if you’ve started a merge).
  4. Once the full-size merge is complete, the resulting DNG file will be added to the bottom of the filmstrip and be available for further editing.
  5. HDR deghosting has three amounts: low, medium, and high. In order to make it easier to select the best option for a given image, a visualization option is also available
Known issues:
  1. Color artifacts in deep shadow areas of some HDR merges with deghosting and HDR panorama merges.
  2. If the merged pano result is larger than ACR’s largest supported image size then you will get an error. In future builds we plan on adding an option to scale the result so that it’s within ACR size limits.
Performance Improvements
Camera Raw can now use the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to speed up interactive image editing. The GPU is particularly helpful when using high-resolution screens, such as 4K and 5K displays.
Minimum system requirements:
  • 64-bit only
  • Mac OS 10.9 and higher or Windows 7 and higher
Usage Instructions:
  • Ensure then GPU support is enabled by visiting the Camera Raw Preferences dialog and check the “Use Graphics Processor” box at the bottom.
  • When this box is checked, Camera Raw will automatically determine whether the system’s GPU (if any) can be used to accelerate image drawing. If yes, Camera Raw will display the name of your graphics card below the checkbox. Otherwise, Camera Raw will display an error message.
  • Note that the GPU options in Photoshop’s Preferences and Bridge’s Preferences have no effect on Camera Raw.
  • Camera Raw’s GPU implementation is used only to accelerate the drawing of the main preview image within the Camera Raw dialog. It is not used for other tasks, such as saving images to disk, or opening images into Photoshop.
  • Scrubby Zoom: Camera Raw offers a “Scrubby Zoom” option in GPU mode. With the Zoom tool selected, click on the Zoom menu (bottom-left of the image preview). Select “Scrubby Zoom” from the bottom of the menu to toggle scrubby zoom behavior on/off. When enabled, click-dragging on an image with the zoom tool will zoom smoothly in and out.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) today launched Slate, a new free iPad app that makes it easier than ever to turn words and images into a story that can be published as beautifully laid-out Web content, in minutes. Bringing Adobe’s unrivaled creative software expertise--across digital imagery, page-layout, typography, and Web design--to a mass audience, Slate is made for anyone who wants to communicate with impact. Students, teachers, non-profit organizations, small business owners or corporate communicators can now turn their next report, newsletter or travel adventure into a document that captures attention. Through professionally designed magazine-style layouts with elegant fonts, beautiful colors and eye-catching motion, Slate content automatically adapts to any device for a high-impact reading experience on tablets, smartphones or computers. Slate creations are links that can be shared easily via text message, email, embedded in websites, or posted on social media channels.
Adobe Slate builds on the success of Adobe Voice, an app for creating animated videos that was named one of the Apple App Store’s Best New Apps of 2014. Like Voice, Slate features a collection of themes that set the tone for any story – with a single tap. The interface makes it simple to add text, choose the right photo layout and apply carefully curated looks and motion. Leveraging an advanced Adobe animation engine, Adobe Slate makes words and images move with automatically applied scrolling transitions, making it a much more engaging and exciting read. Key features include:

  • Stunning professionally designed themes allow users to simply tap to select from multiple font combinations, fun colors and motion to ensure stories stand out from the crowd.
  • Arresting photo layouts and covers deliver options that help photos pop, making them the highlight of the story, including grid or window view. Users can also add a caption overlay on images, ensuring photos are more integral to the narrative.
  • Adaptable design that looks great on any device, ranging from a phone to large desktop monitor.
  • Call-to-Action buttons link to online sites and other relevant information to encourage readers to take action, like: “Donate Now”, “Volunteer” or “Learn More”.
• Sharing options automatically publish the finished content and help spread the word via a simple Web link that can be easily posted to social channels, sent via text message, email or embedded in personal blogs and websites. Readers can easily view the content in their PC, tablet or mobile phone browser.
Paul Gubbay, vice president of product development noted, “In today’s digital world, everyone wants to share engaging Web-based stories that stand out, but often people don’t have the right tools to easily create something impactful. With our move to Creative Cloud we’re able to tap into our pro-level creative software expertise and bring it to a much wider audience with new tools—first with Adobe Voice and now Slate. Stay tuned for more innovation like this from our teams at Adobe.”
Adobe Slate is available immediately as a free download in the App Store. The app requires iPad 2 or higher and iOS 8. To learn more about Adobe Slate, visit
