Gitzo Traveler Tripods Updated
From Gitzo:

Gitzo are proud to inform you of the launch of two updated models in the Traveler tripod range.

Traveler tripods have always been the most compact in the Gitzo range without compromising on stability and sturdiness.
Now we’ve added flexibility to the range integrating a ser. 1 and a ser. 2 traveler without head with a shorter column so to be capable to attach your own compact head.

All updated Traveler tripods are made from 6X carbon fibre with Gitzo’s traditional “noir décor” paint finish used on cast components.

The Traveler range now comprises the following models:

  • GT1544T: ser. 1 traveler without head with shorter column
  • GT2542T: ser. 2 traveler without head with shorter column

B&H carries the Gitzo GT1544T and GT2542T Traveler Tripods.

Gitzo Ocean Tripods Collection Introduced
From Gitzo:

Gitzo introduces the new Ocean Tripods Collection.

Gitzo’s new Ocean tripods are designed to give outstanding levels of strength and stability in some of the world’s most problematic locations for photographers. Gitzo Ocean tripods are resistant to the corrosive power of seawater, humidity and other aggressive natural environments, thanks to carefully-selected raw materials and finishes, and to engineering solutions like sealed leg-locks that prevent mud, sand and dust from entering and gradually wearing away at the tripod’s mechanisms.

Ocean tripods are ideal for supporting high-end, heavy camera equipment in wildlife, landscape, travel and sports image-making where reliability is essential and the right equipment can make the difference between the success and failure of an entire shoot in a far-flung, inhospitable location. Precisely because of their extreme specialisation and exacting engineering, the new Ocean tripods are of strategic importance within the Gitzo range.

The Ocean family comprises four models, covering Gitzo’s Series 1, 2, 3 and 5. The larger Series 2, 3 & 5 models are designed around Gitzo’s recently relaunched (and already award-winning) modular Systematic shoulder element that allows centre components to be interchanged. The Series 1 model, instead uses the latest evolution of the Gitzo Traveler structure, with a shoulder that allows the legs to flip 180° for an extremely compact folded length ideal when baggage needs to be kept to a minimum. All Ocean tripods have leg tubes made exclusively from Gitzo’s top quality 6X carbon fibre. Shoulder elements throughout are made from corrosion-proof aluminium.

Benefits of the new Ocean Systematic tripods for photographers:

DURABLE AND EASY TO MAINTAIN

The specially designed and engineered Ocean G-lock collars prevent sand, dust and mud from entering the leg tubes. Any water that gets inside the legs is expelled by the tube sections, which act as an air cushion.

FAST TO SET UP

Switching centre components is made quicker by the new shoulder locking system, with its tool-free ratchet lever.

SECURE AND DEPENDABLE

You can’t drop your equipment from the tripod thanks to the safety catch even when you inadvertently leave the shoulder lock open.

RESISTANT IN EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS

You can use your Ocean tripod in aggressive environments, in salt water, mud or areas of high humidity, thanks to our careful choice of corrosion-resistant materials and protective finishes.

Gitzo Announces Vintage Collection
From Gitzo:

Vintage Collection

After celebrating in 2007 the 90th anniversary, Gitzo continues to recall the golden ages of photography with an exclusive celebratory Vintage collection. This unique collection consists of two kits and it is dedicated to really affectionate photographers. It is a genuine replica of Gitzo Seventies supports, that in those days, like today the Gitzo 6X carbon fiber tripods, represented the cutting edge and most advanced supports in the market. The Gitzo classic logos, the old style graphics and finishing and the stylish details, make these items the quintessence of history and emotion. From a technical point of view, these tripods are a phenomenal combination of old and new features that makes them incredibly versatile.

The upper casting configuration provides a great compactness and a great stability of the upper disc that sits directly on the large casting top end. The two section telescopic column, a key Gitzo innovation in those days, allows for a convenient height adjustment while maintaining a small foot print. These “old days” smart features are combined to the latest and most advanced Gitzo technologies, like G-Lock, Ground Level Set, Anti Leg Rotation, the new 1,2mm Aluminum tube, Power Disc and PTFE treatment for the heads. Both kits come with a vintage bag, a stylish and well designed carrying solutions which meets Gitzo’s tough standards in terms of functionality and attention to details. The bag design and the materials used are inspired to the 60s and 70s golf and sport bags. The classic Gitzo logo enriches and gives an “old fashioned” flavour, consistent with the genuine Gitzo vintage spirit.

The bag shoulder strap can also be used directly on the tripod as a smart carrying solution, embedded in the kit for additional use flexibility. The Vintage tripods are in fact provided with two rings compatible with the shoulder strap clips for a fast and convenient snap-on action. The bag features a side pocket, in genuine vintage style, sized to fit most of compact cameras in the market and any other accessory you might want to carry with you.

The Vintage collection kits are available in Series 1 and 2, four section compact size and include a smart Gitzo display cleaner and a convenient vintage anti dust bag for storage and packing.

Gitzo Announces New Systematic Tripod Range
From Gitzo:

Gitzo introduces the new Systematic tripod range.

Systematic is Gitzo’s top of the range tripod family, the choice of exacting professional photographers who use long lenses and heavy cameras. Not only are Systematic Gitzo’s strongest and most stable tripods, they’re also modular, with a top casting element that opens and closes to allow each tripod to be configured with a flat disk, geared or sliding centre column, video half-ball adaptor, levelling unit or other specialised centre component.

Now, Systematic has been refined, with significant improvements across strength, stability and rigidity; safety and security; set-up speed, ease of use and ergonomics. New construction and bonding techniques have almost doubled maximum payloads by distributing weight more efficiently to the 6X carbon fibre legs, which also feature the G-Lock system for greater power and ease of leg section locking.

In addition, design details on the distinctive new triangular top casting make changing centre components even faster and safer.

The Systematic range has been extended to cover Gitzo Series 2 in order to offer the advantages of mechanical strength and build quality at a more portable size and b. Each Systematic Series has 3-section, standard 4-section and long 4-section tripods, with Series 3 and 5 also offering an extra-long 4-section model and Series 5 featuring the iconic giant 6-section tripod alongside an ultra-compact 6 section model.

Systematic - the pinnacle of Gitzo technology, craftsmanship and quality.

Gitzo Announces New Basalt Collection
From Gitzo:

Thanks to its unique expertise in composite materials, Gitzo developed a new High Performance basalt fibre tube. The new tube comes from a radical innovation of the Poltrusion process, the aerospace technology used by Gitzo to manufacture its composite tubes in one single step, starting from the raw fibres.

Fibres are wet in the special resin and then pulled through a high temperature core that generates the tube as we know it. This works perfectly with 6X carbon fibre tubes, while basalt fibres absorb a smaller quantity of resin and this reduces tube density and performance. To overcome this physical limit of basalt fibres, it has been developed a new technology (DRI) to boost a higher quantity of resin into the fibres and increase the tube performance up to 22%, depending on the tube diameter. Besides the High Performance tube, the new Gitzo Basalt Collection offer new sizes and a new look. Basalt tripods are available in Series 1 - 2 and 3 in standard and compact height.

The range also includes a new monopod and a microphone boom, both in a convenient 6 section compact size. The new basalt introduces a new colour scheme: black and flame orange, inspired by the basalt itself, a black rock that comes from the Earth lava core.

The basalt collection is completed by three centre ball heads in the new black and flame orange colour scheme to perfectly match basalt tripods and monopod. Basalt fibre tripods, monopod and boom come with the same features of the top of the range 6X models, such as G-Lock, ALR, Ground Level Set, Power Disk, third ground level leg spread and self locking feet among the others. Basalt tripods come with a smart Gitzo display cleaner and a convenient anti dust bag for storage and packing.
